I noticed that knee during the game too. Completely on purpose. The forearm Mathews gives RW is first play in the highlights.

Seems like he would be an OK guy on the street but on the field he is always doing whatever dirty thing he can to try and intimidate his opponents, sometimes he gets flagged, most times not.
