Regarding the cheaters offering a 3rd, it dawned on me that Bennett might not have wanted to go to the NE for political reasons, and the Seahawks might have done him a favor (don't think the Seahawks like the cheaters ownership much either).

According to that Bennett was a P.i.t.A. article, the Pats offered a third. Perplexing. They must like Johnson.

This is extremely common reasoning when those patterns start to show over 30. Know what else is also common with posters of a particular sentiment?

That we're generally correct in our assessment? But hey...enlighten me

And conversely, the Eagles now have to find a way to work with MB... it may not work out as well for them as they'd like.

I just have one question: if the NFL market dictates sell-cheap (Bennett, Peters, Ogletree ...), why do we buy-expensive (Richardson, Brown) ?

I was definitely thinking about that, but the difference with Richardson was that he's much younger than Bennett. Still, that looks like an overpay in hindsight. JLane 's failed physical screwed us in the Brown trade, it would've been great otherwise IMO.

He's saying other teams drive the prices up on players by showing 'fake' interest :2thumbs:

Man.

I'm trying to see the positive. But I don't. Bennett was a great player. He may be on the down swing, but I think Philly will be able to keep him fresh, and he's going to have a great season, and we will regret this move.

Bennett played 900 snaps this season. The average Philly DL starter played 600 or so.

And he actually had one of his better seasons, with a hurt foot.

Any assessment this is not a negative for us and a positive for them is just spin.

He is one of the most productive and at time dominant DL players in the league. He can play and get pressure from both the DT and DE position.

And he is good enough to start on a team that has one of the better if the best DL in football.

but sure

1. Keep the coach but surround him with people that can do that.

That is what Allen did the first time when he hired Pete, what's changed?

Pete wanted total control to come here, and Allen gave it to him. So if you're Allen what's changed that you no longer trust Pete to do it again?

Pete's in charge, and he and Schneider have one more chance to show that they can rebuild another SB contender. So that's what they're doing, turning over the staff and roster.
Ok, I'll bite with an unpopular assessment. Holmgren failed in Seattle and only came close after his personnel authority was greatly reduced. BB is the only "success" as coach and GM and the main reason he hasn't won more is because he hasn't really been that good at scouting players before they've been in the league. College scouting takes too much time and effort to do it well while also winning in the present and eliminating back-and-forth discourse in college scouting makes it even more difficult.

He's going to be a hard guy to replace. But check out Rasheem Green's tape. We might even be able to trade down, add a pick or two, and get Green at the bottom of the first or top of the second.

Oh my days. But hey we're "getting younger" cuz that's what it takes to be good!

Ideal player is young and elite. I'll take an old elite player over a young average player.
