Be prepared for the future , when ' full contact ' football will replaced with a flag football type game . The QBs will actually wear skirts , fanny packs and sandals . All the other offensive players will have one hand tied behind their backs ; and the defensive players will have both hands tied behind their backs to make the game safer . The penalties will be called , reviewed and decided by the booth commentators who are all retired QBs , kinda like now . :)

This might be the single stupidest thing I have ever read on here from a purported Seahawks fan. Your opinions are bad, and you should feel bad.
Not a fan of messages like this. Even if offered tongue in cheek, it's not something one would say if they didn't think there were at least a grain of truth.

It was more exciting. Way bigger hits and a more violent game with the old rules. So yeah the game was more exciting, IMHO. I feel bad for the kids nowadays cause the product is so diluted compared to the 80's.
I don't see it that way. I've been watching a long time and, sure, the game has changed. But it's much more wide open now. The more the violence is removed, the more the artfulness emerges. Back in the day, it was an odd mix of ballet and sumo wrestling. Now it's more of the former and less of the latter. I imagine a generation from now that will be even more true. I enjoy watching flag football but then I enjoy watching women's basketball more than men's. I appreciate the passing and rotations more than one-on-one drives, fouls and slam dunks.

This was the same year, so not all bad!

Thanks for posting that. Fun memories. What strikes me is it was after the salary cap and free agency but early enough on that it still felt like our guys were our guys. In a way that doesn't really exist anymore. One's team may not have been good but they were ours. I miss that aspect of those days, but not everything. The game is way more competitive now. The difference from franchise to franchise is less and anyone can win an any particular day. It's harder to hold together a great team but easier to rebuld. So there's good and bad.

McCrary was a had 13.5 sacks that year but left for Baltimore and won a Super Bowl. He wasn't 'our guy' for long!

Yes, the game was changing. Or rather had already changed. Just because I didn't see it yet doesn't mean it wasn't impacting the roster. Things would get worse for the Hawks before they got better. In this new age, bad ownership is the death knell for any team's hopes. Paul Allen was a savior.

No one said he couldn't. We just called it out for the bullshit it is. That's our right.
I think it violates the rules of this community, as I read them anyway.

More than that, it just makes this place unpleasant. I see no reason to call anyone out like that. Particularly so impolitely. It's fine to say you disagree but words like "bullshit" should be off limits. Honestly, it just reflects negatively on the person making the harsh judgments in my book. A reasoned response wouldn't have that effect. For me, words like that are what one uses when they have nothing cogent to say.

There's something to be said for politeness. We can disagree without being disagreeable.

Thanks for the kind words on my behalf. I can get that though, about it being a ballet. Reminds me of the 90's when the teams would play the Ivy leagues in college basketball. It was more about the passing, shooting and the weaves and plays. Less about dunking and pure athletic ability. It made the basketball game beautiful to watch.

Make that quote in your sig this year when we finish at least 10-7. Deal?
There's literally zero chance I'd remember, and probably won't a few hours from now.

I'm still right though, but I also said "more likely" for a reason rather than some factual proclamation

Your take on bullshit, is quite frankly bullshit.

Not being smarmy, we're adults on a FOOTBALL forum, shit like that is why people automatically assume seattleites, and seahawks fans by extension, are pussies

I don't share those values, man. There's nothing weak about behaving with kindness and consideration. I was born and raised in New York so I know all about conversing that way. When I was young and insecure, I thought I had to respond to aggressiveness in kind. It's as I've matured and become emotionally secure that I've come to see it very much the opposite. When I hang with people who are kind and supportive, it feels good. Hanging with people who are rude, crude, inconsiderate or snarky just leaves me wanting to be elsewhere.

I'm in no way talking about the sort of passive aggressiveness that comes from avoiding conflict. I'm all for speaking truthfully. I just think it ought to be done with a measure of respect, and with an expectation of respect in return.

Fair enough, I was speaking more towards vulgarity as a whole rather than the aggression that can be associated with it.

For example, if a player ducks away from making a tackle, I'm going to say it was some pussy shit.

Simply calling it what it is, not an attack on the player as a person... If that makes sense.

EDIT: that passive aggressiveness is definitely a part of why people being so outspoken against vulgarity bothers me though, strong "beneath me" smug vibes
