Do we have the pieces to run Mike McD's Defense?

Seriously. Blow up the D??? WTF? The reason Pete was let go is John saw a team that vastly underachieved. If we were only a 9-8 team, Pete would have gotten an attaboy and rode out his contract.

The team is better than their record. The roster is more talented than they performed. Mac will get the best out of them. Its literally what he did in Baltimore and his players their attest to it.

I truly believe we do have the pieces. I think the adjustments we made to the overall scheme; when Hurtt took over DC, was not a fit for our team. We led in a lot of skill based categories, Sacks, TFl, and some in the secondary. This shows we have playmakers, but something always felt off watching that defense on the field. Pete was too stubborn to admit Hurtt was the wrong choice and our concepts have been figured out. I am stoked see what these guys can do in this scheme.

My eyes tell me Spoon is a damn great corner!

Not sure why it’s necessary try and see if he is a safety instead!

Just draft a safety to be a safety and go from there!
I’m not suggesting it but it was mentioned as an entertaining possibility - I’m not a D coordinator - I just enjoy creativity and maximizing talent -

No. The ONLY player I want to see returning on this defense 2 seasons from now is Witherspoon. The rest of these guys are either over the hill, or going through the motions.

As Zaghawk said, this is going to take a few seasons. Be patient people. If they do this correctly as a full structure rebuild, not a soft reset to keep Carroll happy, we will be in for success in 3 years. The next couple years will require patience. The biggest thing to look for is continual growth, progress, and improvement.
Ravens fans would have sad the same thing about Madabuike and Clowney before this past season.

One of the biggest checks in the "for" column for MacDonald is getting much, much more out of players.

I fully expect dudes like Mafe and Hall to have quite a jump.

Ravens free agent list is pretty attractive. Could grab a few pieces from there.
Reading their boards, they really expect Queen to follow MM to Seattle. That would be a huge piece that we need. We have the potential to also have the top CB combo in the NFC, if Reek goes away and Tyreek returns.

Jamal Adams.

If there's anyone who can unlock his potential and utilize him the way he should be, it's Macdonald. Or has that ship sailed?

i think Jamal's body would also have a say in it as well. I'm not sure he can stay healthy enough to unlock any type of potential for whatever MacDonald may have planned for us. Speculation of course, but time will tell all.

Jamal Adams is cooked at this point. He had a hard time executing basic cover-3 coverages the last few years. If he can’t do that he’s going to have a hell of a time in MacDonalds system.

Macdonald’s defensive system is far more complex than Carroll’s. Hamilton in the Ravens D was asked to do a lot, things Jamal never did as a NYJ or Seahawk. I don’t think he has that skillset any longer to do that.

He could play Brooks at Mike and if he can get him to his potential that would help a ton. Will be curious if he tries to recruit Queen. I think he will have them playing better but it may take a year or two

Wasn't everyone complaining about the coaching?

It can't possibly be that this team is a complete roster of trash NFL players can it?

Can't competent coaching elevate players?
Some people just want something to burn to the ground for their own entertainment. I wouldn't put any stock in what he said.

Corbin has a good video up about roster impact, on the defensive side.
