Russell Wilson, Pete Carroll: Seahawks offense is just fine
Monday, October 14, 2013 by:Sam Barbee

http://blog.seattlepi.com/football/2013 ... just-fine/

Carroll said doubting fans need to “do their homework” about the explosive capabilities of his offense.

“I think we’re just concerned with the points not on the board,” Carroll said. “We’re moving the football, doing some good things. Red zone has not been quite as sharp, third down has not been quite as sharp as we will be. I think we’re on the verge of being really good, and fortunately we’re 5-1 here and we’re still improving.”

At 5-1 who can disagree with Carroll or Wilson  :th2thumbs: :thirishdrinkers:

I think he was making a point about explosive plays. Seattle actually leads the NFL in explosive plays (ahead of DENVER and Green Bay).

Can't disagree one bit. There are definitely issues of getting 3rd down conversions, and there are issues with us making field goals where we should be making touchdowns. Most of these issues are self made problems, such as ill timed penalties and such, and I think we will improve them as the season carries on. Being 5-1 when you aren't playing your best says a lot more positive about this team than it does negative IMO

It's funny, but folks here keep saying that we've been facing good defenses, and at some point, it seems like rhetoric....they can't always be good every week, can they ?

Strangely enough, they can. Outside of Jax, it looks like every defense we've faced has been 11th or better. Statistically, that can't keep up, although I wouldn't be surprised if Arizona is a top 10 defense. So, when we start this run of division play, and our schedule eases up, it looks like we could get into a groove. Things will get even better when we get injured players back, so the sky isn't exactly falling.

Basically, one could "view the glass as half full or half empty". Since Pete is a "posivitve" fellow...he refuses to be negative in any way about his team. It's all about "improving".

There is concern about finishing drives on offense but that goes hand in hand with current injuries plaguing us.

I am not worried about the defense, sure the Colts and first half of the Texans game are forgettable, but overall they are pretty lights out right now.

Because we aren't as good as Denver offensively, some people on here think our offense is average. Even though we are in the top 10 in most of the main offensive categories IE. scoring, total offense, and rushing. WITHOUT Percy Harvin our biggest offseason acquisition, and a decimated O-line. Some people on here just can't accept anything less than perfect I guess....

You didn't do your homework then...if you had a good bead on how that game was going, you knew that their O wasn't going to sniff the end zone

Ah, good to see the 2011 Montana back.

Am I wrong?

Yes, you are wrong.

Explain. It was the second game in a row where the team looked oddly unfocused and loaded up with individual mistakes and injury repercussions, and it's more than the second game where the defense forced our passing game to start thinking intermediate or go home.

True, but at the detriment of our ability to protect our QB. Teams have done their homework and are covering the routes that lead to 20-yard-plus plays. This leads to Russell Wilson running more, and I'm scared that some dude is going to take him out on one of those runs.

Really, I think that getting Harvin back is the key. Harvin running a five-yard out can turn into Harvin taking it sixty yards to the house at any time. Safeties will have to account for him, cheat up, not stand twenty yards off the line of scrimmage and backpedal as soon as the snap comes.
