I've been thinking the same thing.

As a RB, he seems too slow to get up to speed. And when catching a pass in the flat, he spends too much time stomping his feet trying to decide what path he's going to take. Wasted time, wasted motion... just GO!!

If you watched the CIN-LAC game last night, compare Charbs to Chase Brown for getting up to speed and quickness. I see a huge difference. Brown's acceleration to the hole is elite... Charbs is not. jmo

Doesn't matter much how fast you accelerate to the hole if there isn't a hole. Running Walker or Charbs into a stone wall isn't going to gain a lot of yards.

I feel we need to draft like the heaviest RB in the draft to compliment k9 for short yardage , someone who is gonna get a yard just cuz of his size , that's hurt us a few too many times this year , oline be damned
How about The Return of the Fullback? Mack Strong (for one) would have not allowed those no-gain 4th down runs when he was playing. A hole *would have* been opened.

I overall think he can bring some good elements to the team, but is definitely in a rougher patch right now.

Even his blocking seemed way off, both physically and just reading the play and rush

Hoping he can right the ship a little

Your last sentence made me laugh. I wondered who the A hole was you were talking about. I have Covid. My brain is functioning at less than normal capacity.

When we had Poona Ford on roster, I always fancy to have him run the ball for those 1 or 2 yards. Poona had RB experience in HS, he is short (5'10"), heavy (300+ lbs), and good at moving people.

How about we start with drafting players with short area quickness…

I have to say, I really hate when they run him in short yardage situations. Which is weird because I thought he was known for being that yard-after-contact kind of guy coming out of college.

I bet we have O- or D-linemen riding the pine who could add value to the team in this way.

Charbs the Mule is too slow for me.. I'm calling him a bust period.

I'm prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt but if McIntosh gets some of his reps and starts balling then/being more effective I won't lose sleep over it

That's the thing they won't even give KMac a shot and instead go with the Mule.

I think Walker can be a great short yardage back. He just needs to quit dancing. It’s fine between the 20’s because he can break one at any time but when it’s time to get a yard just plant your foot and get the yard. He’s powerful enough to be really good at it

Charbs at lead block for short yardage isn’t a bad idea. He also has decent hands. PA wouldn’t be bad with him.

But, no matter how much of a bruising type back he is, it’s the NFL. If you don’t have the speed and quickness (these ARE two different things), your other physical prowess doesn’t matter…for the RB position.

Speed wise, there are mid to below average guys that play in positions like LB…even Safety.

RB isn’t necessarily the position for those guys unless they have a good line…in which case, the speedsters would do well behind as well.

I’m not saying Charbs should be moved to LB or can’t play RB…but he’s definitely ‘situational’.

I think he needs a full back to be effective.
