This acquisition was a bigger plus. It allowed the M’s to rid themselves of Stanek. I can’t believe there was a team desperate enough to trade for him...thank you, Mets.

A solid bat and a great reliever. Good work so far. Can we hope for a little more?

They kind of have to if they're genuinely trying to win the division this season. As much as I love these 2 moves, 1 bat, no matter how good, isn't going to be enough to significantly improve this offense. They absolutely need at least 1 more solid bat.

Stanek depressed me, so I'm happy with the Garcia pickup.
Salute to Robles, I love the guys play.
I agree we need another bat to go with Randy and we are good.

I think they were caught by surprise by the underperformance of the bats they had put together last season and this season. The acquisitions they had made were supposed to be batting around proven talent. This acquisition is clearly intended to put such a bat in place that will form an anchor for the others.

You guys are gonna love Yimi, especially if he resigns.
He was really good for the Jays.

That's like being surprised that you lost the drag race after you pushed the gas pedal down halfway...

Telling the fans all last offseason that they were improving was pure gaslighting for the payroll purge that was actually going on. They were pissing on our heads and telling us it was raining.

I mean, they were stuck looking for bats to anchor the line-up, rather than having the luxury to go and get bats that would add in a more dynamic fashion.
