130 points combined. How's that for you, modern football fans?
Not sure how 4 lost fumbles is on Leach. Perhaps they should have run more, but that's not who they are.West TX Hawk":276w6zjz said:Absolute horrific collapse by the Cougs. Up 49-17 with 6:52 in the 3rd. 50 2nd half points by UCLA. 3rd biggest comeback in NCAA history.
Leach should be ashamed. His whole system is flawed-yes he can get you 9+ wins in high offense conferences but this sloppy air raid crap can lead to disgusting losses like this.

Or worse, Paul Wulff anyone? That said, horrific loss last night.getnasty":ja2g7y9q said:West TX Hawk":ja2g7y9q said:Absolute horrific collapse by the Cougs. Up 49-17 with 6:52 in the 3rd. 50 2nd half points by UCLA. 3rd biggest comeback in NCAA history.

WSU had 11 wins last and has had a ton of success under Leach, all of this with 3 star talent. He system is far from flawed, if not for the system WSU would be a 5-7 team every year.

If I were a Coug fan I'd still be pretty optimistic for one big reason: Anthony Gordon is absurdly good. And, it's not just the system that makes him good. Dude processes info fast and has great touch and accuracy. Probable future Heisman winner unless D coordinators figure him out...

I think they are worth gushing over. They are a ranked team with the 70th ranked talent composite in college football. I find that rather impressive.

They just blew a 32 point lead to a winless team.
Talent composite and star ratings are subjective. We've all seen better football teams with the same level of talent not blow huge leads or get shitcanned in big games.
Ruminator":3pirjwje said:Sure puts a weird perspective on WSU's first-half going for it on 4th-and-goal that failed. Had it succeeded, would the score have been something like 67-70 or 60-70 Cougs winning...? Bizarre.

That's simply not true, star ratings are based on the composite ratings of all rating sites. it's not perfect but it as close as you can get. To call it subjective is ridiculous.
The composite talent ratings are also based on composite ratings of recruits and is a pretty accurate picture of how well you recruit. As a good method of viewing how accurate that is you only have too look at the composite talent rating of schools that win national championships. If you don't have top-10 recruiting classes you aren't going to win NC's. Period.
HTH.

Im not going to get into a dudcussion about the obvious subjectiveness of all of that.. and regardless, it says nothing of WSU blowing a 32 point lead to a winless squad or the numerous times they've not shown up to big games.

It's one game.

It takes further evalustion Si, a big reason they get the tag "coug-it" is simply because they don't get those high value recruits. They get some good players on offense, especially transfer QB's, because of their rep for that but they don't have great defenses (obviously) and tend to blow leads late in games because of that.
Again, HTH.
