If Jodi and the estate are staying away from long term player deals while the team is in open sale?

I honestly don't think that the sale makes ONE molecule of difference to the organization's operational processes.

Not one.

If you got a crazy owner who wanted to micro manage the operations of the team, and literally started making personnel decisions instead of business decisions - possibly. Or moved us. But we're a waaaaaaays from that. And to be honest, I haven't seen that 'type' of owner in any of the prospective buyers that have been listed/mentioned.

It's fine.

The Hawks have mostly been avoiding long deals anyway. It's been SOP for a long time, and is a major reason why the Hawks have simply had some average years between successes instead of having to rebuild. Teams that get in the habit of giving out long deals find their roster and salary cap a huge mess that requires a real tear-down and rebuild.

This!
If you want to get the most money for something that for most of this century has been successful, you don’t all of a sudden change the way you do things.

I highly doubt anyone connected with the team said anything remotely close to, “ hey, we are for sale. We’ve been successful with the things we have been doing but let’s **** it all up and try some stupid shit.”

Tanking the team to hope to save a dime while spending a dollar would be stupid, success breeds success in business, trying to shave money from a proven commodity that has grown from 187 million to 10 billion in worth is about as dumb as you can get. Not going to happen.

If I’m part of a new owners group, I want JS to be the JS he’s been for the longest…specifically, the last few years.

With that in mind, without even knowing who is going to purchase the team, I doubt they operate from a ‘minimalistic’ perspective.

Someone’s buying the chip winner. You don’t come in thinking you need to maximize profit. You know WINS = PROFIT.
