Between Trout and the Super Bowl runner up QB I don't give him much of a chance, unfortunately.

It will be a travesty if Kaepernick gets the award over Wilson. 49ers arguably could have been a better team last year without Kap starting, and you couldn't even attempt to make that argument against Wilson.

They were still considered the best team in the NFL last season before Kap came in.

I dont know if i'd say they could have been better, but i dont think Kap made them much better than they already were.

I think he meant that with the way Alex Smith was playing, they would've ended up where they did if Alex Smith had kept his starting job.

And that has nothing to do with the award. I actually think Kaep is more deserving of this award. After sitting on the bench for a year, and even to start this year, he broke out and had huge success. Russell Wilson was a star in college, then right away became a star in the NFL. It wasn't really breaking out, it was just being Russell Wilson.

But I don't think either of them gets it. I think Johnny Manziel wins it in a land slide.

That's a pretty subjective consideration though. If we look at a site like Football Outsiders, they recorded the '11 Niners as barely a top 20 offense but they came in at 5th with Kaep in for only half the season during '12. They're both small sample sizes, especially Kaep's part in '12, but in that small sample, Kaep made them a way, waaaaay better team offensively. He improved them nearly as much as RW improved our offense. He made that big of a difference.

That's a good way of putting it. Touche.

These are awards are determined by fan voting, correct? Well, Wilson did win the PepsiMax ROTY and made it further than Kaepernick in the Madden cover tournament (both based on fan voting). Seems to be quite a bit of backlash against Manziel at the moment, so I'd be kind of surprised if he won a fan vote for anything at this point.

The good news would seem to be that HE doesn't really care about what happened last year. On to the next challenge, as it should be. If anything, rather than resting on his laurels, he's going to be kicking some major ass next year. Who cares about some arbitrary award? By all appearances, it would seem he doesn't.

Agree. It's why he'll win multiple Super Bowls.

I love our guy and all, but I'd have to vote Johnny Football. all day, everyday. What he did as a Frosh..has never been done.

Best of luck to Wilson. He is extremely deserving of the honor. Puig has had an amazing start in the bigs, but I believe the award will go to Trout. Johnny Football gets a ton of hype with the whole freshman thing, but the red shirt never seems to get attached. Fact is he won the Heisman two years removed from high school, which is not a first.

It's not about who had the best season, it's about who had the biggest breakthrough. Wilson was handcuffed (for his own protection) by the coaches for much of the season, but by the end of the season he had stepped up more than anyone and it was clear, compared to the others, that he was going to be a great player for many years to come.

All Seahawk fans should vote for Russell Wilson.
