Why the large drop in the Seahawks betting line?

The Seahawks opened as a 7-point favorite over the panthers. It has since dropped to 3.5. I think the oddsmakers already knew about Walker's injury when they set the odds late sunday. Maybe something to do with the waiver of Baker mayfield?

I'm pretty sure that the betting line changes as a result of how people are betting (in order to keep the bets about even between the two teams), and not what the oddsmakers think. I believe that part is only used to set the initial line. So the drop from 7 to 3.5 point faves would be a result of the great unwashed masses chiming in via their money.

You are very close. Casinos make more of their money on total bets made and for the most part they can stomach a upset or big loss along the way. The casino will set the betting line to encourage betting for both the favorite and underdog and if they see an out of balance bets being made the line will change

I agree. I think that line is going to go up in favor of the. Seahawks.

The betting line is inching upward. Seahawks now favored by 4. Some of us expected that to happen.
