im rooting for niner empire because if the Saints somehow win on MNF they get the #1 seed.

that's assuming the Saints win all of their other games, which is not a given by any stretch.

Anyone rooting for the 49ers is literally worse than Hitner.

Fix'd

I thought about adding something in about that, then I realized Donte Whitner/Hitner/Whiner/Whatever is so irrelevant, most people wouldn't catch it. Maybe if he becomes known to more than 2% of NFL fans someday, I'll reconsider.

OMG!?!?!?!?! How can anyone compare football to Hitler? Football is a game, Hitler was a house painter!

J/K. But do prepare for an attack from the humorless and hypersensitive. I personally think you nailed it. If not for the labor board, I would fire my guys that are 9er fans. And do so right before X-mas so their kids have no presents.

Again, if we lose out in the standings to the Saints = two seed

If we lose out in the standings to the 49ers = five seed

Besides the obvious fact that the tears of Niners fans stand alone as the finest drink that money can buy, you want them three games back with five to go after this week, assuming the Hawks take care of business against Minny. Then, unless we collapse and the Lions win out, we're the two seed at worst, and even if we somehow lost out in the standings to the Lions, three seed at worst. All will get us at least one guaranteed home game unlike the five seed. Go Saints!

But a tie would be even better.

Right after we go on a killing spree. If you're down for it.

Agree, I even think that idiot Godwin would agree to this.

This team can beat New Orleans in their house with a Super Bowl on the line. I'm not afraid of the #2 seed (though of course #1 would be far nicer). Dropping to #5 and having to travel for three consecutive road games is a far, far greater task. Win the division first. Let the rest of the chips fall as they may.

A tie would be delicious. Got no problem with the Saints other than they are in the way of our Lombardi. If they Saints win the Niners just might mail it in the rest of the year, if the niners win it gives the Hawks a nice cushion with The Saints. No way in hell I root for the niners but I can't say the results of a miracle niners win wouldn't make me happy.

Well, sorry, but I think it serves us better to see the Saints lose. I want Nawlins playing an extra game and all games on the road come playoff time.

The 49ers don't worry me a bit.

And I won't be 'rooting' for either team but I really don't think Franny can win in New Orleans, anyway. They have lost to every good team they have played this year. Why should that change now?

I want SF to drop to the bottom. Lose the rest of their games. But it would also be fun if they lost out by 1/2 a game due to a tie. It's probably wiser to root for them against NO. But neither team strikes fear in me. Not at home, anyway.

After the 49ers game, four of the Saints remaining six games are on the road, including road games against a healing Atlanta and a surging Carolina. In fact, they haven't played Carolina even once yet. Think the Saints sweep? I don't.

For the Saints to secure #1, they'd pretty much have to run the table playing what is most likely the most difficult remaining schedule in the NFL, especially when you factor how many are on the road.

Sure, it would be nice if the Saints lost, and I don't think the 49ers catch Seattle even with a win in New Orleans, but the very worst that could happen if the Saints win is that Seattle is a #2 seed. And that scenario is very unlikely. The worst scenario if the 49ers win is that Seattle is a #5 seed.

So I'm rooting for the Saints, or better yet, a tie. But if nothing else, I'd like to see the 49ers avoid adding a tally to the win column here, as it would essentially salt away the division and take a ton of stress out of Sundays.

I also have quite a few Saints on my league leading fantasy football teams, so there's that too.

agree completely. Also lets not forget the Saints arent very good on the road. This season they are just 2-2 so far on the road. The only games that really matter are the Saints and 49ers game for us. We win both of those and I think we clinch #1 and Division
