Who to root for: Saints or 49ers

Have to root for the Saints. A 49er loss to the Saints and a Seattle win against the Saints puts the SOS tie breaker WAAAAAY out of reach.

That's not a match-up that interests Roethlisberger (you can't rape the willing).

Honestly isn't even a question for me. Rooting for the Saints to beat the hell out of the 49ers. I'd love to see all their silver lining threads on webzone after a real curb stomping by Drew Brees and Kaep going 4-25 for 11 yards. If we take care of business on our end and win games, the outcome of this game wont even matter.

Doesn't matter much when we beat both of them weeks 13/14, but hope the 49ers get there asses handed to them. Wrap up the division 1st, home field advantage 2nd.

I wanted to dig this one back up because we now see a clear picture of the ramifications of that game. Had the 49er WON vs the Saints, we would be now looking at:

Hawks 11-2
49ers 10-3
Saints 9-4
Panthers 9-4

The assumption was that the #1 seed would be easier had the Saints lost. However...winning the NFC West would have been harder. Us beating the Saints was needed for a shot at the #1 seed anyway and much more doable than HAVING to win in SF.

A little more "margin for error" with the way things have worked out.
