DVOA is the other stat. Turnovers as well. Finally total sacks

Defense is much harder to "rank" then offense

It's funny how metrics separates the top defenses with such the slightest of margins. 19 PPG versus 16 is the difference between #1 and #6? Wow. The eye test knows better. You can NOT convince me - metrics be damned - that there are 5 defenses in the NFL more elite and ferocious than the Seattle Seahawks defense.

Its not even a contest. We played last week without a key interior piece of our D line and a probowl Safety. Didnt matter. We held 'MVP' Stafford to Tim Tebow-like numbers and their offense as a whole in check.

The trouble with our D is that our O has given the opposing teams short fileds to work with, so for one, our points allowed are skewed higher and our TOP is skewed lower. Sure, every team has to deal with those factors, but we lead the league in TO's

Texans. I compare the team’s scoring defense to the quality of the team’s own offense. Texans have better scoring defense than the Rams despite having a much weaker offense.

Texans defense is damn good. Makes me feel a lot prouder of our win over them. Outplayed them all day. Other than a couple fluke turnovers.

Good points. SEVERAL times this year, a team had a short "drive" to score after our turnover. That's putting ANY defense in a really tough spot.

TOs don't always skew the TOP stat lower:

Settled for 4 FG's (one TD called back)

Hard to beat a good team when you settle for 4 FG's AND have 4 turnovers. The fact that they were in position to win says a LOT about this team.
Rams has 12 first downs the entire game. At the risk of getting worked up, I'll just leave it at that............unimpressed.

For me, it's not just about overall season stats with defense. It's also about what defenses are playing the best right now, in recent weeks, and likely moving forward The Eagles, for instance, have a lot of talent and size and squashed the Packers and Lions the last few weeks, holding both to under 10 points. Watching that Eagles/Lions game, their front held the Lions sound running game in check, and their front four absolutely blew up the Lions OL and gave Goff no time at all the whole game. I was like...they're scary...glad to see their offense having woes. I feel the same way about Houston now.

I think Denver has the best defense in the league, personally. I like a D that can pressure a QB and if you look at sack totals they are dominating there

We fix our TO problems, I think the RZ problems go with them
I get what you're trying to say but we were 1/4 in the redzone. Swap one of those FGs for a TD and we still win the game despite the 4 turnovers, which Sam threw in Seattle territory anyway (not in the redzone).

They are, and if their offense gets up to speed they could be dangerous.

Watch them play the bills last night, 8 (count them) 8 QB sacks against Josh A.
And how many turnovers.. Yeah, they are legit.

This is Seahawks.net, there is only one answer. All others are just wrong.
