I had to vote Riq, for obvious reasons, but Walker was 1b. So disappointed with K9, like a broken record.

McDonald. You don't sit all your aces during preseason and then unveil this level of ineptitude without an accounting.
It was awful. My brother told me it looked like the offense hadn't touched a football in 6 months. And I agree. Nobody on that offense (save ironically the OL) looked like they even played football in the past half year.

Nice play and game by 49er tight end Tonges

Jake tonges 49ers

..................... it's ok to acknowledge a good play and/or game by an opposing player.

I’d blame John Schneider but then you’d correctly point out he is not a player and a half a dozen posters would somehow hold him completely blameless shifting all blame STILL to PC or others. Teflon John - even his own massive failures are swept away by his admirers. 3 total playoff wins since the lost Super Bowl and he is without fault.

This was painful.

Abe Lucas had ONE JOB.

All he had to do was hold Bosa off for just another second.

JUST ANOTHER SECOND.... 200

How is Riq a disappointment? Were you expecting something different from what you normally get? If so, why?

Walker was disappointing. But he's like the Mariners. He can only hit home runs, can't get base hits. He's been like that for a while, though not as bad as this last game.

Darnold was the disappointment, because I was hoping to be happily surprised (I know, that makes no sense). Instead, I got a guy that looked a lot like Dilfer out there. That was a bummer.

(I should say the OC. But I wasn't expecting anything palatable so I can't claim to be disappointed with I knew it was going to be blah.)

Where were the home runs? Walker looks like he’s a guy who needs a change of address, he had no fire and has’t for some while now. He now plays like he doesn’t want to get hit or is in fact hurt again. Give me a guy who always wants the yards.

Once again I’d say the edge rush was a defensive factor that allowed SF the ability to complete typically frustrating 3rd down conversions. The edge ush was missing and SF won with theirs.

For the most part though frustrating as the end was the team showed promise even if they can’t seem to finish well at home.

A better question would be: Other than Riq Woolen, which player disappointed you most in this tough loss?
Except Riq did exactly what I expected he would do, so the disappointment around Riq is more on the coaches/gm at this point. He is a known quantity, and has been what he is since the dumb ass name change.

I went kupp. Coaches were a little more stuck there. Charbs had already proven the better option to Walker for the day, so that one is on the coaches as well

I know many will say woolen but Kenneth Walker is the biggest disappointment to me.

He should've been chomping at the bit to get this season off to a roaring start but what does he do?

a Meek 10 carries for 20 yards.

By comparison, Sam Darnold had 14 yards on 2 carries when he scrambled. 🤦‍♂️

It's just absolutely embarrassing and I actually feel embarrassed for him.

But he also seemed to go down on first contact which is a problem.

Charbs does not go down on first contact which is critical to get those extra yards, imo.

I think it's time to put Charbs as the RB1 and elevate Martinez (When is Houlani coming back from injury?)
Totally agree. I'd also add that Walker seemed to act like someone who was either confused or just didn't want to be there. His whole demeanor was that of someone who has quit. If this continues, Charbs will be cemented as our RB1 and K9 will be gone.

Huh?

Darnold completed about 70% of his passes and didn't throw picks.

He could've thrown TDs but for whatever reason Kubiak kept him locked down with training wheels attached to him. (there were no misdirections....no reverses....NO PLAYACTION PASSES....)

And btw, despite all that, it was because of Sam that they were even in a position late to get the go-ahead score as he drove them down the field late.

If Abe Lucas could've done his job and not get dog-walked right into Sam's arm as he was throwing it, the result would've been far different (and more favorable).

(btw, that should have been ruled a forward pass, not a fumble)

That was a clear fumble, Sam outright dropped the ball

I'll say it once, and I'll keep saying it over and over again. You cannot do anything offensively that you game plan for, if your OLine and DLine is not consistently winning at the line of scrimmage.

People want to call out Walker saying he's still dancing too much. That's BS, how do you have time to dance when you're getting hit in the backfield damn near every play. And let's be clear. Charbs wasn't lighting the place up either.

So then that of course leads to, you cant run play action if you have no running game.

I saw zero targets to the tight ends, I saw zero targets to Horton, I saw the same stupid bubble screens for loss that we've been enjoying for the last how many flippin years now.

On the flip side, I saw very little penetration from the DLine in the second half especially, which gave Purdy time to go through his reads and find the open guys all day.

I saw zero adjustments for McCaffery. Thank goodness Kittle went down because Macdonald obviously had no answer for him either.

And don't even get me started on Woolen.

We were promised an identity, and we saw that identity in pre season. Soooooo, where were the gaping holes? Where was the moving pocket to buy Darnold time? Where was the full back on a wheel route, where were the tight ends? Where was the pass rush? Where was the setting the edge? Isn't that what we got Lawrence for?

So I blame the trenches (both sides), the head coach/DC, and the OC for this loss. And Woolen of course.

It all starts in the trenches, if they aren't effective, nothing else you scheme up matters. 🤷
