But if you're downplaying the significance of the opposing QB to the ability to win games, especially road games, then there's not much more I can say.
Super Bowl winning QBs + (total yardage defense)
Flacco + 17th ranked defense
E. Manning + 27th ranked defense
Rodgers + 5th ranked defense
Brees + 23rd ranked defense
Roethlisberger + 2nd ranked defense
Now, the common thread between most of those defenses was the ability to make turnovers at crucial times. But overall, each of those champions (with the possible exception in Roethlisberger) was won because of an elite QB making great plays in the clutch.
