I'm trying to figure it out, but obviously not to well... When is it possible for Seattle to secure the First Round Playoff Home Field Advantage? Trying to plan ahead to be at the game.... I know the Seahawks have a lot of work and winning ahead to do so... But, thought maybe someone has a pretty good idea of the possible scenario, and when this could happen? :180670:

We will pretty much clinch the #1 seed if we win at San Francisco. I can't see us losing any other games honestly.

Wrong.

You are only guessing.

The OP is asking for hard facts.

The results of this week's games and next week's games and our game vs Saints
All factor in prior to our game in San Fran.

To answer the OP. Impossible to tell, right now. Check back on Monday. Then it will probably still be too early.

For a little more information to the OP....we will secure at least one home game when we win the division. If we don't win the division we don't get to secure a home game. Once we win the division, we are guaranteed to play our first playoff game at home, but that brings into question which week will we play and we won't know that until we know our NFC ranking. The best case scenarios say we can't know any of this information until the week of the Niner game (unless of course both the niners and the Saints fall apart during our bye, but that's less than likely). Once we know our seed, then we have to figure out how the nfl is going to schedule us because it could be a saturday game or a sunday game.

San Fransisco sit at 6-3 and we're at 9-1. They have 7 games left and we have 6 games left. And we face each other once again.

So the earliest we can clinch the NFC West Title is Week 13 in this scenario:

Week 11:
SF Loss 6-4 ; 6 games left
SEA Win 10-1; 5 games left NFC West still up for grabs

Week 12:
SF Loss 6-5 ; 5 games left
SEA Bye 10-1 ; 5 games left NFC West still up for grabs

Week 13
SF Loss 6-6 ; 4 games left
SEA Win 11-1; 4 games left Seattle clinches NFC West title securing First Round HFA

Of course Seattle could possibly not even play in the first round if they get the first or second seed, those two teams get bye weeks in the first round of the playoffs. We would have to look into Carolina, Detriot and San Fansisco to see earliest we can secure a first round playoff bye.

Well there's good news OP, ESPN's playoff machine for this season will be launched next week so we can play out all the scenarios easily. If you're thinking this far ahead, I'm sure you're well prepared for get some tickets XD.

If the Seahawks can take care of business at home against the Saints, we will probably secure homefield advantage in week 16 at home versus the cardinals.

If the Seahawks lose to the Saints at home, it likely will not be secured until the final game, if at all.

The earliest would be the Giants game at New York in week 15, but that would be unlikely, unless the Panthers can beat the Saints in the Superdome in week 14.

I was referring to the two next games, but thanks for the assuring comment. :D

The thing is, a "magic number" like is used in baseball is still so far off. There are too many other teams involved and within striking distance at this point.

If we win all our games up to and against the Giants, we will be the #1 seed no matter what else happens.

We'll finish 13-3 at worst while NO can finish 13-3 (with us holding tie breaker) at best and SF 12-4.

He is looking for a best guess so that he can plan ahead and be at the game where the number one seed is secured. I think it is rather simple. If you believe we will beat the Saints at home, plan to go in week 16. If you believe we will lose to the Saints, plan on week 17.

It isn't that simple, at all.

If you want to buy tickets right now, and you want to attend the game where we secure the first seed, then it is that simple.

Though, if you think we will go undefeated as long as we are trying, which includes back to back wins against the Saints and at the 49ers, and that Detroit will lose a game against either the Steelers, Bucs, Packers, or Eagles... then maybe week 15 in New York is the way to go. But that seems less likely to me.

Detroit could win out and be 13 - 3 also.

No head-to-head.

They would have the same conf record.

Common opponents AZ, TB, MINN, NYG.
So far we are 2 - 0 out of 5. AZ (1 out of 2 W),TB wins with AZ (home), MINN (home), and NYG (away) to go.
They are 1-1 out of 5. AZ L, MINN (1 out of 2 W) with MINN (away and last game of season), TB (home), and NYG (home) to go.

They have better SOV.

If your heart is set on picking 1 game I would go to the Saints game and not worry about when we secure the HF.Just pick the game you want to see and it will play just as important of a role as the last game.
