One could argue that a "good" GM may indeed spend more hours to their craft than a player. Yes a player watches film, works out, eats and sleeps football during the season and a good chunk of of the off-season. The GM however...if doing the job right, would have no off-season or vacation whatsoever. They may be strategizing, analyzing, etc. 12-16 hours a day, 365 days a year. Their actual contribution to the overall teams success/failure could also be deemed way more impactful than a single player.
