With 5 games left, all being NFC teams. I was wondering if anyone has come up with any type of playoff breakdown at how we could end up with home field in the playoffs, should we get there. Obviously, winning our division is the first step. Is there a magic number of games we need to win or any combination yet? I don't care who we play, just that we are home through the playoffs. :icon_new:

Before this past week, if Seattle won only is 4 remaining home games and lost its last two away games, @ SF and @ NY Giants, they would win Home-field Advantage throughout.

If the Saints finish with the same record as the Seahawks but having lost to in Seattle; Seattle would own the tie-breaker over New Orleans in head-to-head.

If the Niners had won against the Saints and won out and ended up tied with the Seahawks, they would be tied head-to-head 1-1, tied in the division 5-1 and it would fall to common opponents... which would mean that the Seahawks would have won because they would have been 4-0 vs. the NFC South vs. the Niners 3-1 (assuming they beat the Saints) with them losing to the Panthers the previous week.

Now, the Seahawks need to win 3 home games and they get HFA over the Saints. The NFC West Division Title is down to a magic number of 3.

Huge game coming up. Must beat the Saints. The Superdome is a tough place to play, especially against Brees. I want everyone in the rain at home.

I like our chances, thanks...We really need to win that MNF game. When we beat the Saints in that last playoff game, the Clink was rockin!!!

Win against NOLA and thereby hold that tiebreaker and win a total of 13 games given we already hold the tiebreaker against Carolina.

As a backup, root for the Panthers. If the Panthers beat the Saints twice, the Panthers and not the Saints will win the NFC South, and we own the tiebreakers with the Panthers already.

IIRC, the Magic Number for the Division is three and the magic number for Home Field is Four (vs New Orleans) or Three (vs Carolina)

If they hold serve at home, they clinch HFA no matter what happens on the road against SF and NY.

But basically the biggest game is against the Saints.
