That is the problem.. Too much to three players on offense and scraps left
to the D.
Kind of in a way what happened here with Me3 and paying a couple of D
players, you can't afford much else without cap hell.
I think they will find a way but they aren't winning much, the NFL is going
to have to tighten up the cap rules because this is going to happen more.

I said years ago that there needs to be set tier levels at every spot.

No doubt. Separate cap type thing for QBs. Once a QB signs a huge deal, it just impacts the rest of the roster.

From my understanding, the Bengals have inserted some clause in the contract which somehow negates the rookie guaranteed money....contrary to the CBA. It's not him at all. He just doesn't want to set precedent by signing something that doesn't even comply with the CBA. Honestly, how can the Bengals even propose this if it is not compliant? As far as him leaving, he is not an employee of the Bengals until he signs, so should he really be there?

He could take a season vacation, get his situation handled and go back into the draft next April.

If that is indeed what it was about, I can see ownerships stance. How many times have teams stepped up and selected a player only to be slapped in the face ?
Did Cleveland have any contract language regarding Deshaun Watson and his "problems"? I bet if they didn't, they wished they had.

They didn’t, and it’s a big part of why NFL owners are pushing for this kind of language now.

These young men are so lucky to have the skills to play in the NFL. The owners do their part by paying these young men a lot of money ( the top guys anyways).

Why not protect themselves and everyone involved ? It might just help keep an immature player out of trouble.

Where would he leave to? The Rams are the only ones that come to mind as possibly in the QB market who have the wherewithal for cap manipulation to make such a move. But eventually the same problem would arise for them if Burrow would get a contract similar to what he has now.
