Dan is not a good DC when he doesn't have the LOB, did you watch Atlanta's defense?

Dan is a DL guy and got some of the best pressure this team has ever had. Secondary is Pete’s baby. I’d be fine with DQ coming back as DC but even if it’s just like DL coach/assistant HC I’d be fine with.

Dan had a prime Bennett, Avril, Irvin, Clemens...

Again Atlanta came into today with 5 sacks and Dan has been their DC all year.

Talent can make an average coach look great.

Posters on this board would have looked good coaching the LOB in their prime, that DL in their prime and young and nasty Wagner and Wright.

The mark of a good coach is not what they do when things go right but how they do when things go bad, so far this coaching staff not so good at it.

Really it is nothing but hoping at some point Pete starts trusting them to close out games rather then try not to lose them.

No, it isn't the scheme.

We need better players. That's really just all there is to it. The DL has a whopping two starters on it.
You don't think our propensity for running prevent D and/or playing so far off in 4th quarters that guys can just catch passes for 7-15 yards at will unchallenged is an issue Norton should be fixing?

Not Norton, Pete not trusting this defense to close out a game and letting their offense eat time hoping to hold them to field goals really is what I believe with that kind of lead.

Can you provide some proof of this? I remember loving Quinn because the prevent D almost disappeared. This would suggest that kind of choice is up to the DC.

Pete's post game interview.
Remember they game plan on situations ahead of the game, it was up to Pete to let Norton know change it up and play more standard defense philosophy.

I actually think this is what they do normally and why we are scratching our heads so much, nobody wants to deviate unless Pete tells them too or unless Russell's headset stop's working. :)

It's pretty much just try and get players healthy and hope something clicks for some of the younger players.

This defense isn't among the worst, but it's an NFL average defense on a good day. There seems to be a lot of focus on the offensive play calling, but if this defense can't step it up it's going to be hard to really get anywhere this season. When the other team has scored 20+ points in three quarters of the games you've played, you have issues. High powered offenses can't overcome this. Best case scenario is the Chiefs super offense getting bumped out in the playoffs; once you start playing teams with good to great offenses and at least good defenses it gets really hard.

Things change over the course of a season and they could start figuring it out. Right now there are 3-4 games left on the schedule where they can probably out-offense your defense's issues, but it's going to be tough. They got a good shot at winning 9-10 games and an okay chance of making the playoffs. But the division is tough right now and they still have to get through two SF games and another Rams game.

Hopefully they'll get this win vs TB.

Get healthy...

Tedric shouldn't start anymore but Bradley was only available for one series.
Blair had some big hits but missed a lot of tackles -- I figure Diggs will maybe play more
And King was awful -- huge step down from Tre

He was the leading tackler on the team...as a strong safety! 9 solo tackles. What game were you watching. Damm near our best player on D

#1 - Lack of talent
#2 - Pete does not change system to match strength of players
#3 - We need to ACTUALLY GO INTO NICKEL COVERAGE instead of playing over-matched LB's against 4.4 WR's
#4 - Switching DC's will do nothing. It's Pete's system, and Norton doesn't cost us with crazy blitz calls or anything of the sort. We got burned on a few of those with Quinn and a lot of them with Kris Richard.
