My comment had nothing to do with my feelings for them. I like the franchise for all the same reasons. But they caught us at the right time and beat us when we've had their number for the last decade. The NFL wabts to crown them and 'prince Goff', thats fine. We throttled the living snott out of them on Offense and few took note because they got away with the win (and help doing so from the zebras). We beat ourselves when we played them. Im just hoping wr get a 'do-over'and can set the record straight.
I don't pay any attention to the
"NFL wants to crown them" hype. They do it to generate interest, to get people to turn on their TV sets. As a matter of fact, I don't pay all that much attention to the TV announcers during a game, as I sort of mentally tune out everything they say but the players' names, down and distance, timeouts left, etc., the mechanics of the game.
We seem to match up pretty well against the Lions, but like you said, it all depends on what each team is like when we play. But as far as this discussion goes, ie who has the best chance of going to the SB, I have to revert to what Bill Parcells once said:
"You are what your record says you are." The Lions have the best record in the NFC and deserves to be
"crowned", at least for the time being.
