Because the box score sure isn't close.

49ers - 384 total yards, Seahawks - 230 total yards.
49ers - 265 passing yards, Seahawks - 146 passing yards.
49ers - 119 rushing yards, Seahawks - 84 rushing yards.
49ers - 72 total plays, Seahawks - 50 total plays.
49ers - 24 1st downs, Seahawks - 14 1st downs.
49ers - 7-14 on 3rd downs, Seahawks - 3-10 on 3rd downs.
49ers - 2-2 on 4th downs, Seahawks - 0-0 on 4th downs.
49ers TOP 38 minutes, Seahawks TOP 22 minutes.

And we can't use the refs as an excuse this time. 49ers were flagged for 9 penalties for 61 yards. Seahawks were flagged for 4 penalties for 30 yards.

Not good. Pretty soundly beaten in so many areas. The 9ers were the better team today, and it really wasn't as close as the final score makes it looks.

If Kubiak lined up umder center with 22 sets amd gave the ball to Charbs over and over again, we win.

Outside of Bosa, the Niners dline is garbage.

The Hawks gameplan played to the strength of the Niners: linebackers and corners.

Right before they ran that preposterous wr screen that lost 8 yards in the 4th, I said to my Natalie, "they better run the fuckimg ball here."

I very nearly threw my saison across the dammed room.

The offense has a lot of growing and adjustments to do because there was a soft reset of it this off season. It was never going to be easy. The loss of Lockett is bigger than Metcalf because it allowed JSN to do his work underneath. Fant I wouldn't say is a big loss because if given a chance the young TEs can provide some production.

Kubiak seemed very tentative play calling wise.

Can't say anything either way about Darnold at this point but like I have said before Darnold needs a good supporting cast as he is ideal for being a distributor of the football. But Darnold isn't going to take over a game like a R. Wilson.

Defensively they could have played better and tighter but the offense just couldn't sustain drives. ToP is the main story of the game.

Yeah, very similar to the start of last year getting dominated in TOP. I thought overall the defense played pretty well outside of Woolen on that final drive. DL was getting after Purdy, he's just really good at the system to know where to get rid of the ball ASAP. Woolen either deflects or intercepts EITHER pass and they probably win the game, really frustrating end for him. I hate how uninterested he looks out there, coupled with his complete lack of physicality.

Offense couldn't sustain drives and Darnold 100% had training wheels on for some reason, not sure why you bring in a guy familiar with the system and then run essentially the preseason playbook. Kubiak called a grossly conservative game and sprinkled in some atrocious screens. Kupp also didn't look like a guy ready to contribute unfortunately.

I genuinely 100% think this is the best way to explain the Offense this game. It was extremely odd to see them have the guy really limited outside them using this as a 1st team “4th preseason” to see what’s up against a top tier team. Downside .. it happened to be a division rival

I would love for the WR screen to just be erased from the playbook. It may work when other parts of the offense are working and misdirection is a thing.....but that wasn't happening today. The playcalling was awful. Charbonnet should be playing much much more. He's the back that is going to wear down a defense. Walker is not.

Defense played very well. They gave up too much yardage on first down, but allowing 17 points with a 38-22 time of possession imbalance is very, very good.

Yeah, that was quite a gem. Watch it again and you can almost see Bosa laughing as the play was progressing.

The 84 rushing yards is the most disappointing stat.

Very disappointing. Even more so when you consider that our RB's only had 67 combined rushing yards.

I agree that the 9ers beat us statistically in almost all the key categories/metrics. But...for heavens' sake, the game was still right there for the taking, the win being dangled right in front of our eyes, and we turned down the offer.

The win was batted to the 49ers by woolen in the endzone to the WR/TE

I get where you're coming from, and I agree to a point, but the D needs to do a better job getting off the field. The 9ers were 5 for 8 on 3rd downs in the first half, 7 for 14 for the game, and 2 for 2 on 4th downs. So overall the 9ers were 9 for 16 converting on 3rd and 4th downs. That's not good enough imo.

True and that is why Horton needs to be a bigger part of the game plan along with Arroyo. Both can attack the seem or boundary with go routes.

Kupp still has value with intermediate and underneath routes and then you have JSN who is alpha.
