I'm specifically talking to the fire Pete crowd, now I was all for some change, but it appears it was not the coach being the issue.
Most likely we would have the same record (or close) with Pete at the helm. Players that can't tackle like they have oil rubbed all over them. This team already looks like they checked out. Just seeing Geno and DK's body language tells me so.
It appears there will be some major changes to players in the near future, at least I hope so.
This was a shet show last night.

I was never, at any point, calling for Pete to be fired, and I find the level of disrespect and even disdain directed at Pete from some around here to be pretty disgusting. Having said that, I did feel it was time to move on. I fully understand that might mean some dark days ahead, but hopefully that will eventually lead to some brighter days in the future.

Why is everything so good vs evil, us vs them with everything? Seems to be the American way.

It was perfectly reasonable to love what Pete did while here and think after years of the same issues never getting better that maybe at 74 years old it was time to go a new direction. People are quick to forget how bad our defense was for YEARS under Pete. I knew this argument would start to creep up at the first sign of adversity and a handful of guys couldn’t wait to bring this up. It’s crazy to me that fans seem to be rooting against the new staff and want them to fail.

I like Pete a lot but the product was stale.

The Giants game was a big disappointment but even then, we had a shot and blew it. We could't score the last couple of drives in Detroit and we couldn't move the ball late last night.

Our defense is shockingly terrible but the bigger issue is, we are not clutch when we need to be.

We could say the same exact thing about arguments regarding our current quarterback and the groundswell that erupts whenever he makes a mistake.

People just like being right, however brief or hollow the victories are.

Meh I went back and looked at the Geno stuff and the initial posts were people just pointing out he had a bad game and made a couple of mistakes and people(the Geno defenders) went nuts over it. I still think you’re discounting half the equation on the Geno debate. There are people doing what you’re saying though so that part is true. Not everyone who doesn’t view Geno as a top 10 guy tho by default wants him to fail. Hell in the game day forum which you can go back and look, I praised him multiple times yet I’m told by some I’m just a Geno hater because I refuse to say he’s elite. Gets old just as it gets old for you that some people keep saying Geno is terrible.

Regardless your overall point is right. It truly feels like people root for being right over their team.

Pete and John as they’ve stated publicly both had a hand in drafting players, FE signings etc.
Yeah Pete had final say what it sounds like but they pretty much agreed every time except for a few picks.

we want to win with running and D and we have been paying big money to DK and Tyler Lockett and we spent a first rounder on JSN. Meanwhile we are starting two players at guard who should be backups at this point in there careers. Winning with a running game is not about having a great RB it's about having great blocking.

JS is on record stating that he can count on one or two hands the amount of times PC ever vetoed him in their entire 14 year partnership.

They were truly tight as hell.
There are rumors thet leaked from the scouting department that say otherwise and that a couple of high end draft picks went completely against the scouting department and ended up being disasters. I think Collier is one of them. It’s all rumors so who knows but the drafting style completely changed as of late which to me points to John having more control than he did in earlier years. We will never truly know I’m guessing and overall I would agree they had a great working relationship especially considering how hard it would be to have that kind of set up

The drafting style didn't really change that much, imo

Seattle did exactly what they did the last time they had high picks. They locked down a tackle and they picked a versatile defensive back. They exactly mirrored 2010's philosophy in 2022/23.

This year, with no high firsts, we looked pretty similar to how we usually do. They like trenches and front 7 high, IOL middle, hell, even tight end in the fourth.

I dunno, man. It all looks like JS to me.

Rumor vs John Schneider himself. Which source is more credible?

They drafted two tackles in the first three rounds. They never did that. They hadn’t taken a corner in the first rounder either. This draft looked nothing like the previous 10 or so to me. Heck John said they completely changed their approach after self scouting what they’ve been doing. The toolsy raw guy? Witherspoon and Murphy are great football players first.

Murphy feels like a guy they would’ve taken previously though if he fell.
