We didn't lowball Geno. He just wanted out.

The argument is simple - literally just look at every other quarterback extension to determine what quarterbacks are usually paid. You can absolutely be of the opinion that you would prefer not to pay it, but value is determined by market and comparison to contracts at the same position.

How many? Mayfield had am amazing year at less than 35m per year. Sometimes you just have to wipe your hands and move on. I am happy as hell they did

Yeah, and if he were in line for an extension, he would be paid more. Either by them or another team. 35m doesn't move the needle in the current QB market for any QB the league sees as worth extending. This would've been true even if he hadn't thrown like 4000 TDs this year.

on the other hand, $35mil or slightly less might just be adequate if Schneider acted on Geno's request last off-season. As an additional bonus, Geno could have played better by not desperately trying to save his body, saving it for that last contract extension in his career.

Geno who?
Gino Torretta. A former University of Miami star who played one game for us in Week 17 of the 1996 season. Came in for an injured Stan Gelbaugh and led a comeback win over the Raiders. He went 5 for 16 for 41 yards and a TD.

It was impressive given the circumstances, but why people are still talking about it is beyond me.
