let Mike cook on defense with his Free Agent choices and select guards in the first and second rounds...then this is a NFC championship team!

Is it to much to ask for Hutchinson level guards...if you pick them in the first and second rounds?

I know this was hyperbole but I think the team is closer now than it had been under Pete during his 3-4 final years, with today being a frustrating win. There are obvious areas that need improvement and some obvious money saving measures that should happen.

1) IOL - First round or two as well as FA. Really attack getting MUCH better on the line.
2) CB across from Woolen - Brown and Jobe aren't it
3) Secondary depth - Today was painful, the rookies are probably camp bodies at this point. Jenkins is an easy cut.
4) Front 7 studs - Jones should be an obvious resigning, is Knight actually a starter? Mafe (moreso) and Hall disappeared second half. Nwosu looked like a shell of himself, he's got a lot of $$$.
5) Probably WR3 with Tyler leaving - JSN took his role and is going to be a superstar. Lockett isn't worth $30 million unfortunately and he seems to want to keep playing. I assume they will amicably split.
6) Resign Geno to an incentive based extension - get him a nice payday with chance to make more. There's no good FA QB's available, no team is trading a better QB than him, Howell is not remotely ready, and the draft is garbage.

Good news is that the last three drafts have been fruitful enough where they can bring in a rookie QB on a five year contract sooner or later. The foundation has been built.

Bad news is that the Rams reloaded/rebuilt on the fly during a cap crunch. And the Cardinals are not far behind either while the 49ers can not be counted out just yet.

I'd like two new offensive linemen, any number of new defensive linemen, and more in the receiver stable.

We're more than 2 players away just on the offensive line.

I want to see the FO put some money into the Oline and see what Geno can do. If he doesn't prove it was the Oline's fault within 4 games next session, do what they did this season with the starting LBer's, cut/trade him, and let whom ever is behind him start.

 Hmmm, if we are 1 or 2 players "away" don't we have to change something? ;)

Meanwhile...... Broncos and Pittsburgh get into the playoffs whereas the Seahawks do not.

Well I suggest finding some good players in the last year of their contracts and trading a few future draft picks for them. What could go wrong?

Oh and the draft. it’s such a darn crap shoot. You just never know. They almost all fail. So, maybe we should trade ALL the picks away instead of engaging in such a crap Shoot. All the good players will be taken by the time we pick. Can’t rely on it. Again a crap shoot.

I like the optimism. I know Geno showed something today.
Sadly, I knew that the Geno is the answer crew would be ready to pump their chests out. He had a good game, and an average season. he was a turnover machine, often.

Given our relative good health this year and weak division, ten wins was probably about as good as this roster is going to do. I doubt we can depend on either of those things next season, so we probably need more than two additions.
