Awesome news. I say get him the hell out of Seattle.

Also Pete does need to step up here and do something about these suspensions. Whether it's peds or not.
Although It isn't Pete's fault that these dumbasses that put themselves ahead of the Team, I do agree that Pete needs to throw some cold reality at them.
These guys are making some stupid assed decisions that COULD destroy their careers, so showing them that the Organization has zero tolerance for this shit, by adding another 4 game in Team suspension, and an expulsion from the Team for a repeated second offense, should ripple through the whole organization, otherwise, there will be others thinking that they can outsmart the system.
The players association would have a problem with that, won't happen.

A team that is poised to go an a super bowl run and he pulls this shit..(don't matter if its weed or not...he shouldn't have done it). He was lucky to still be around on this team after all his injuries he has had. Most teams would have cut him. Is Marcus Trufant around still?

Because he creates a atmosphere of leniency does not mean he is a cheater. Don't be silly.

Leniency, shmeniency, Where the hell do you see that Pete has "Created Leniency"?, and you call ME silly?

I don't really give a flying rats ass about what the Whiner fans want to use for their straw grasping excuses, but why would you say something that gives them an INSTANT of we told you so to run with.
Hell, I'd rather give them all a pair of scissors to run around with.

Stop. Just stop. You are being foolish. It is well documented that Pete runs a program that is player friendly and affords the guys lots of freedom. That does not equate to being a cheater.

Is the team allowed to further punish Walter under the CBA?

Chances are they have know about this for a long while. The appeal process takes quite a bit of time. Hell, the positive test may have come during the pre-season. I am sure the team knew all about this for some time now. To be suspended for substance abuse, you are not a first time offender.

Lane & Maxwell have seen alot of time this year at CB during blow outs. Also explains why they have played so much more zone this year. Easier to plug a DB into a zone scheme, than a man to man scheme.

The 'Hawks DB's are still better than NYJ & NE, both teams that beat NO. The team will be okay, and has know about this coming for months.

Sounds like people just want to link "cheating" from his USC days to the Seahawks. Not sure where the hell scutterhawk is getting this from. Pete needs to keeps these guys on leashes. Can't give them too much freedom or dumb shit happens.

And while we're on the topic of cheating, every NFL team flirts with "cheating." Each NFL team and each NFL player wants a competitive advantage, and in doing so often breaks rules. If you're not cheating, you're not trying.

Not the news I wanted to wake up to, and as pissed as I am (@WT3), I'm equally pissed at the NFL and their substance abuse policy. Not making excuses for the turd, but with pot (if it is pot) being legal in Wa, and in many (civilized) places prescribed as medicine, how is it that an adult cannot consume pot, but can get hammered on alcohol without consequence? Could it be because there are few advertisers more important to the NFL than Coors, Budweiser, etc.?

Double standard and hypocrisy at it's finest. Thinks me.

He who is without sin shall cast the first stone… apparently there are no stones left. Mistakes happen, y’all need to get over yourselves.

Pretty pissed at Thurmond for letting his team down like this. But I kinda gotta agree with Doug here. Some fans needs to chill just a tad. Anonymous internet sanctimony from many who have done just as bad or some much worse is one of the lamer aspects to the this whole online thing.

Haha aint that the truth, this board overreacts a lot.

He's a good player and he'll be back for the playoffs, hopefully it doesn't affect us too much in the Saints game.

I wouldn't be surprised if he developed an opiate addiction with all of his injuries and rehab.
Finally someone thinks this thru...

Could be medicinal pot as well... it does help chronic pain.

Awh man, this is not the news I wanted to see today.

But this explains why Thurmond likes to wear a visor on the field...

Thurmond let down his team. It's as simple as that to me. Stupid and any excuse is weak.

I'm really going to pull for Lane and Maxwell. Hopefully they make Thurmond an afterthought.

IF what you say is true then I have a real problem with the NFL's timing of this. Seems a little too convenient to suspend a player if they've known about it right before the one of the biggest games of the year that has huge HFA implications.

...and don't get me wrong the player is an idiot for doing the drugs in the first place and giving the NFL an opportunity to throw their monkey wrench into the HFA/playoff race. This team and these players have to realize amongst other things the NFL is going to go after them with a fine toothed comb after Richard Sherman beat them with an appeal, and the NFL is still are extremely butthurt and embarrassed over that. Not to mention Seattle is the biggest threat to knocking out the "NFL's favorite teams" and hoisting the Lombardi, which I'm sure isn't their "desired results".

The players have to be smarter than this!

Didn't hear people yelling for Sherman, Irvin, or BB to be tossed out. Lynch got a DUI which is far worse IMO because you are endangering innocent people but no one wanted Lynch cut on the spot........ Very interesting inconsistency if you ask me.
This is what gets me. If you want to cut bait with Walter Thurmond for doing this, then what's your view on Marshawn Lynch? A DUI is a lot worse since you're putting people's lives at risk.

You guy's are freakin rediculous sometimes.

Ok what Thurmond did was stupid, selfish, and hurt the team.

But give the dude a break... he's been pretty stellar this season and I don't think he's allowed a huge play against all year unlike Browner and Sherman.

Seahawks will deal with it. Thurmond will remain with the team.

And Seahawks will likely get Thurmond back on a very cheap contract for sticking by him through the thick and thin.

This place is Pirhanas and kind of biased. Because many said they probably wouldn't care as much if it was a big name player getting suspended and that since Thurmond isn't to good to not be made an example of and just cut his ass.

A lot of people here only care about the tarnish this has inflicted around the team. To be fair let's just cut everyone who has done wrong for the team. I'm down for that rather than justa one player hate brigade.
