Its a good thing only QBs are really judged on Super Bowl rings. As important as the position is, no left tackle was ever the main reason for a team winning the Super Bowl.

Sure, you can say this. But every time I read the HoF voters talk about a player getting in, the number of championships come into the discussion. It isn't the only thing but I think you are being dismissive if you think there is no weight given to this team-oriented accomplishment. Case in point was the yelling discussion Prime, Faulk and Irvin just had on players that should get in from the current class.

Haley being on 5 Superbowl winning teams and 10 yrs in the probowl was Irvin's case for him getting in. The Superbowls have weight in many players, fans and media's eyes.

What's holding Haley back is that he was basically a psychopath. Great player, but looney as hell and didn't make many friends. Irvin is well aware of this. Besides, when he finally called, he will probably go in as a 9er, despite hard feelings (I would think). OTOH, the way Irvin is clamoring for him, makes me think Haley will go in as a Cowboy. Unsure.

Tim Brown is the one getting the shaft. It's ridiculous he's not already in, despite the number of WRs they have to consider.

Easley? Better than Lott, IMO, or at least as good. But again, I am biased. Lots of bad blood between #45 and our Hawks, unsure if that may hold him back. Makes me sick. Probably my favorite player in the history of the game.
Wasn't the lawsuit thing smoothed over with the current ownership and Kenny when he was inducted into the Ring of Honor? Paul didn't own the team back when the lawsuit went down.

I only wish Easley could have played for Paul Allen. He deserved much better. I certainly hope things have been smoothed over between the two camps. I mean, Largent and Easley are the names most associated with our rollercoaster past. We should make every effort (and perhaps we have) to enshrine their memories in our fan base, past present and future. Not many compare to those two. They should be made to feel proud they were Hawks.

We have many young fans that don't see or hear enough about Kenny Easley (in particular). If you picture the best of Kam combined with the best of Earl. You're picturing #45, Kenny Easley.

Easley's HOF candidacy is hurt due to the relative shortness of his career. I'd have a really hard time believing if anyone in the Hawks organization, past or present, was holding Easley back due to the conflict that arose towards the end of his time with us. It's important to note that we did have some first class ownership back then in the form of the Nordstrom's. The Easley debacle came before the Behring years.

Yes. I am aware of this. I wasn't suggesting today's org would do anything to hold Easley back, but they might not be doing a lot to promote him either. As you said, that was a different time and ownership. I never had a problem with the Nordstrom ownership. I do recall, in very bad times, people cutting up their Nordstrom cards and throwing them on the sidewalk fronting the store. Be careful what you ask for fans. It was all downhill from there until PA took over.

I understand your point on Easley's relatively short(ened) career, but there should be allowances for such circumstances. IIRC, Jim Brown and Gayle Sayers also had short careers. Didn't hurt them any.

They were also more accomplished, particularly Brown, who retired with just about every rushing record in the books.
