Does Walker have an issue of occasionally not making the first cut that he needs to make on some short yardage situations and instead strings the play out to the outside trying to get yards that are not available? Yeah, he does. (He did it at least twice this game that I saw).

He's a rookie. He's used to playing in college where he sees those edges and is typically going to beat those guys. He needs more reps in the NFL where he'll get a better sense for what he can and can't actually get away with when playing against grown men on defense.

He can't get that if you take him out of the game every short yardage situation.

Seriously, show us the bounty of data you've got here

Carries inside the 5 yard line are a stat that's tracked closely due to fantasy implications, and Walker has had literally ONE this season prior to this game, and this is his rookie season.

Either the "consistently" is complete bullshit, or you're just making stuff up man
Fade can't show you, me, OR ANYONE ELSE a damned thing that isn't a "Gut Feeling" THAT HAS BEEN REPITITIOUSLY PROVEN WRONG!
Some are "Slow at Catching on", and some (because of their stubbornness) will EVER admit their Dumbasserie!

All Walker does is get touchdowns and huge short yardage first down pick up's. Consistently. And scores touchdowns over and over again. And closes out the game. Thus, the reason I call him The Closer.
Fade literally makes stuff up that isn't even sort of true.
Dude is averaging 5.1 yards a carry and has 7 touchdowns. He has scored TD's in 5 straight games. And he's a rookie.

Damn, what a HORRIBLE draft pick. But hey, they are using him too much blah blah blah

After losing two running backs to season/career ending injuries in the past two seasons, I'd rather see us put Walker on a pitch count and keep his touches under 20 per game so as to reduce his exposure to injury. Besides, as was noted, either Dallas or Homer are better 3rd down options as Walker is not a great short yardage runner and he's not as good of a pass blocker as our other two RB's.

As a rule, I'm not a big fan of spending high draft choices on running backs for a number of reasons, but Walker is turning out to be one of the steals in the draft.

Never go FULL FADE, ever.

Homer is the better 3rd down back hands down. His blocking is phenomenal.

Typically your 3rd down back isn't thought of in terms of running the ball. You want your 3rd down backs as pass catchers/pass blockers to beat blitzes. Walker isn't at that point yet.

Agree to disagree
I need a yard or two on 3rd down? I'm going to Walker, and it's not even close.

I do agree that Walker isn't the second coming of Larry Csonka, Walker certain has no tunneling capabilities. Walker is also no Jerome Bettis.

So fade is right, Walker is a Ferrari, Walker ain't no body's bus or semi.

I am not so sure about him not having tunnelling abilities. He may be smaller stature, but he can lay it on people. I was looking for the run directly after the Chargers stopped him for a safety where he dragged a few tacklers with him for a couple more yards. I can't find that play though. He has had several plays this season where he has simply refused to go without it being four or five guys dragging hm down.

Yep, he's proven plenty times he can lay the lumber. He doesn't avoid contact. He can do it all. Getting him to be a better blocker will be something they can work on.
He gets several yards extra, all the time. Tough crowd.
Then again, this is the same page that had people claiming that Tyler is soft, and must have mental issues.

I wonder what's next?

Way back in the days, me and my bros always BS that Larry could crawl under a pile of people on top of him for one to two body length, and came out on the other side of the pile. We joked that Larry had tunneling capabilities. I couldn't find any link about that so we probably made that up after lots of beers, southern boys and all.

Dot Net: Tyler is Soft, and Kenneth Walker can't get the tough yards.
I wonder what's next? The next time Woolen gives up a touchdown, this guy sucks blah blah blah blah.

You can't even make this stuff up. Oh wait..........
