The 49ers don't run Pete ball at all. Their offense makes you guess what's coming, Pete ball consists of limited amount of simple plays that make execution that much more harder when the defense doesn't have to think.

Did you watch the game? Vikings ran the ball 10 times. The niners ran the ball almost 40. Threw it 19 times.It was mostly basic zone runs,the same offense his dad ran with a few wrinkles. It was just a physical beat down on both sides of the LOS.

Watched the whole game. Wouldn't call it basic zone runs. They run a lot of motion and misdirection, different looks and formations, causes the defense to think and react instead of attack.

Seattle runs the same look almost every time: Shotgun formation with what looks like a zone read but Wilson never keeps it. No adjustment to our injured oline or defensive strength, like repeatedly running straight at Cox up the middle and left side of the injured oline.

Watch the Oline. Its the same quick lateral flow that his dad used at Denver and Washington. The motion is often nothing though. Sometimes it lets you know whether its man or zone but other times its nothing. Especially for a zone D.

They could have given the Vikings their playbook and they couldnt have stopped that mauling at the line of scrimmage.

I never mentioned Seattle I was talking about Vikings running only 10 times.

Did you read the post earlier this week that outlined our running plays last week and that around 60% of those were designed to go off tackle or outside and that the Philly d-line blew them up and forced our RBs back inside? The breakdown IS here on this Forum.

Did you read the post earlier this week that outlined our running plays last week and that around 60% of those were designed to go off tackle or outside and that the Philly d-line blew them up and forced our RBs back inside? The breakdown IS here on this Forum.

Because the runs are predictable. Same formation, same play, no motion or misdirection, no variety, with few exceptions. A healthy team with a stud rb make it work, t ends there though

And the Niners are going to run outside zone over and over. The best team at the LOS wins both styles.

4th string RB for Seattle, 2nd string left side of the o-line. I'll argue all the motion, all the fakes in the world would make no difference. Would the 9ers or Rams be as good running all that "fake out the opposition" stuff with 2nd string o-lineman and their 4th string RB? Serious question. Do you really think they would?

Nothing tricky about the either games today. The more physical team won. Run the ball and stop the run and you have a good chance in every game.

No one suggested wide open throw the ball. Why do you have to use the extreme? Titans have a damn good oline and lynch-esc rb. 49ers have a damn good dline and *creative* offensive playcalling. Pete is a damn good coach for getting a depleted team to the divisional round, but that doesn't refute what I said.

I swear, it's either 100% for or %100 against Pete around here. Or if you question some aspects of playcalling, then you must want a wide open pass offense.

You really have to be blind if you can't see the 49er offense is more creative and puts a defense on their heels. They scheme open receivers and free runners all the time. Wilson, in contrast, has to make incredible plays off script and tight window throws, while the rbs consistently have to create their own magic. Most analysts see it plain as day, and Seattle is known as just lining up and not hiding anything. My point is, at least do a better job of trying to hide things, whether it be playcalls or tempo, so it makes it easier for your players to execute.

So why do teams even bother doing it at all? Why gameplan? Why use misdirection?
