Over 7.5 wins is a no brainer. We have a new Pope. The last two times a new Pope has been selected, The Seahawks made the Super Bowl. It has been determined by the almighty himself. Hard to be an Owl participant with less than 7.5 wins. Now if I could only figure out how to make that bet...

As a general principal Sportsbooks want equal liabilities on either side, rather than number of bets or money totals. However, it's a professional business and Sportsbooks know the behaviour of gamblers. Fans bet on their own team to do well. They don't bet on other teams to do badly. This betting market is always stacked against the Overs. With 32 teams playing 17 games the maximum win total is 272. (Tied games would further reduce this). The betting market in total for all teams will probably add up to 278 or 279 with the Over prices also generally being shorter than the Under prices. Markets won't be price 'overbroke', but in coin flip terms it'll be -116 Over and -104 Under. Those seeking value will tend to bet Unders.Vegas doesn't want to guess right they want an equal number of bets on each side so they are guaranteed to rake in the spread.
I think we will get more than 7.5 wins but unless it goes up in the next few days (as far more people bet on the over than the under) Vegas got it right.
