Sorry if posted, but this is great news.

starting with defensive lineman Michael Bennett, who was taken off the field on a stretcher and to a Houston hospital after suffering a back injury while running into Texans quarterback Matt Schaub:

“Michael is going to be OK,” Carroll said. “He’s going to practice this week. He went from where he was to he’s feeling pretty good today. So we’re really excited about that for him. He was really scared.

“But he’s going to go this week and we’ll see how much he can work with the thought that he can play this week.”

Good news, we definitely could use his inside pressure this week and have a good rotation to keep these boys fresh....

Fantastic news.

So, it would appear that we now have the following pass rushers immediately available to us:

1.) Chris Clemons - He looked good, and will be awesome in spot duty. I don't think he's a 3 down player for us any longer, but he will likely see more time as the season progresses and the coaches gain confidence in his health and ability.
2.) Michael Bennett - The inimitable "Big Homeless". This guy was PFF's third most productive pass rusher before going into the Texans game.
3.) Cliff Avril - Another great spot duty player who has produced with limited snaps.
4.) Bruce Irvin - The wildcard. Who knows what's in store with him? We all know he can rush the passer, though. I suspect he will be an X-factor in coverage as well.
5.) O'brien Schofield - Another above average pass rusher in spot duty.

In a 3-3-5 or "NASCAR" nickel look, All five of these guys could be on the field at once. Clemons, Avril, Irvin, and Schofield are all able to run coverage looks as 3-4 OLBs, leaving the QBs to question where the rush is coming from. Amoeba defense indeed. I can't wait to see what comes of this.

Definitely. He wants to run them all over and burn the stadium down. He's going to be fired up for that game.
