I caught an interview on King 5 today with new Seahawk Uchenna Nwosu. In addition to saying that he was excited to work with Pete, Hurtt and the new defensive scheme, he gave another interesting (and not often expressed) take on why the Seahawks appealed to him - the lack of a state income tax. Makes sense.

I couldn't locate a link to King 5, but I found another interiew with similiar content:

Taylor and Nwosu are going to be fun to watch…..just need the big uglies in the middle to take up blockers so these two can terrorize QB’s. 😁

Our defense really, really, really badly needed a change. I’m looking forward to the revamped Defense….I really like our last DLine coach that became our DC…so hoping for a Quinn repeat with Hurtt. 🥃🥃🥃

I am hopeful but here are the stats:
1 year starter
Only 5 sacks with BOSA on the other end of the line.

I’m not down on the player but if this your signature FA pickup this off season you have failed. If this was your 3rd best player signed I’d have a little hope for next season.

on the other hand maybe they are looking at this as a building block for 2024.

Someone posted a graph in a different thread that ranked all the pass rushers based on win percentage and double teams and he was rated pretty high. Let's hope it pans out.

I welcome the Uchenna Nwosu signing as a replacement / alternative to rush specialist Jacob Martin. Both Uchenna and Jacob signed with their new teams within 24hrs of each other. I recall my regrets in watching the Seahawks letting Jacob go as part of the Duane Brown trade with the Texans.

In any case, Uchenna is a type of edge rusher for whom they have previously shown a preference. The internal competition should return to where it needs to be. He has starting experience and a goal to nail down a 3 down linebacker role in Seattle. In particular, I'm looking forward to seeing how the new era nickle defense goes about taking the ball away and getting off the field.

Clowney trade, I believe.
