According to PFF, Geno is having his career apex right now. His 3.5 games last season was the best in his career; this year's two preseason games, he was rated an elite-nesque 88.4 in passing, and 90.3 overall. PFF could be wrong of course, but they sure ain't bias in favor of Geno.

So far, I noticed that Geno worked hard in protecting the football, and trying really really hard to make quicker decisions. Both are subtle and do not show up on box scores, may be analysts in PFF noticed?

I am hoping that he is turning all the slights, belittles into positive energy. Once he learned to trust our OL, that will help towards his poise under pressure, which is another one of Geno's major weaknesses.
I don't think PFF is wrong in this case, but Geno certainly won't maintain that level of play once the season gets going. It's a small sample size from preseason, but it's been a good sample. He's been on point other than a few mild misplacements. The trip made him look a lot stupider than he's actually played. Ceiling is obviously limited, but I'm not panicking. Stopgap year and all that.

Yeah that’s pretty bad considering you want your starters to play a sharp quarter and look ready in the final preseason tune up. And this was against the 31st ranked D last year. I think Saleh’s Jets were the worst believe it or not

The 49ers lost Mack and Tomlinson their O line is going to blow this year. Trent Williams is only one dude so that interior is fixin to get abused

Fingers crossed on whoever we pick next year for QB. Always a crapshoot.

Lance looked like he was under a lot of pressure and there was good DB play coming out of Houston. Wishful thinking but, alluding to him as a “bust”, wasted pick, etc. might be far-fetched at this point.

I’d bet $$ he does better than our QB(s).

Lance looked rough…ultimately, I think he’s going to turn out to be more than ok. If he doesn’t, yay for the rest of the division because they paid a steep price!
Hmm. Yeah the thing is he lacks poise in the pocket and throws inaccurate passes. He’s not even a good project when you consider the draft capital given up to acquire him. This won’t end well in the Bay Area

Totally agree about the draft capital they gave up. I think it was a huge gamble that likely won’t line up with the expected outcome.
But, I suspect he will get a lot better than what was on display tonight. How much better? I don’t know.

I mean yeah he’ll improve a little with reps but at what cost? They screwed Jimmy over and they might have to back pedal and beg him to stay at a lower deal if possible but I doubt it. He’ll get picked up as a backup is my guess

But but but he is still way better than our QBs, haven't you read the memo?

Their coach is a hot head. He made a poor pick and now he’s trying to force it. We heard Herbstreet say tonight that Trey Lance is not ready

You guys crack me up. :D

Lance is 4 of 5 and hits 70+ yard TD: Silence.
Lance is 7-11 for 49 yards and is running for his life with neither starting tackle in the game: Bust.

Relax. I know how bad you guys want him to be a bust (evidenced by FrodosFinger authoring this thread and posting no less than THIRTEEN TIMES).

As I have maintained all along...it will probably be a bit rough early and he'll improve with every game. If you watch the Texans game from LAST year, you can see just in that small sample he struggled early in the first half, improved a bit just before halftime, and then played very well in the second half.

Kid just needs reps.

It didn't help in this game that he had turnstiles playing tackle. Every single time he dropped back he had a guy in his grill immediately. Jimmy is sacked in those scenarios.

As I've said, I dunno how he'll turn out but the desperation I see in this thread that he sucks is hilarious.

Its all good tho. You be you. Peace. :D

may be can trade Lock for Lance?
Oh screw that noise I don’t want to be stuck with Lance then we’ll have to teach him how to play the position. Waste of time and money

Somebody check on Fade make sure he’s ok. Last week he wrote a short novel regarding our game with the Bears. Now that the shoe is on the other foot “it’s just preseason he needs reps”. 😂
You can’t even pretend to make up the hypocrisy

Even the the completions Lance had were wobbly and off target. Dude should’ve been picked 3 times. I understand it’s preseason but the 3rd preseason game is where you want your offense to emulate game time conditions and go out and piece together a couple of drives. It’s a tune up and Trey Lance needs more than a tune up he needs Peyton Manning’s passing camp

uh....none of them were close to being interceptions.

Way to expose your bias there. :)

Both tackles not playing and replacements not even touching the defender at times. Offense not scheming.

There is absolutely an expectation from any Niner fan who is paying attention that there will be struggles and that he needs the reps to learn. 49ers know this. They are ripping off the band-aid to let him take his lumps to be better later. Early season they will lean HEAVILY on run game and D. Good news is that they are one of the most potent running offenses in the NFL and the D might be the best its been in years.

Their coach is still miles ahead of ours, you again didn't read your memo. Compare out Lock and Geno, Lance is an all-pro, compare to Pete, Kyle is ready for first ballot HOF. Read the memo already :)

It wasn’t just Lance. That o line is a disaster with 3 of 5 expected to make the team but being turnstiles. They can’t just say that they’ll have Trent Williams back and Expect to be fine with it.

O line was a disaster last night. The tackles were back ups but still they were going against Houston back ups and it does not hold much promise if Trent Williams and MCgllinchey go down. Oh yeah and Williams is injury prone and McGlinchey is coming off a torn quadriceps. Aaron Banks is big and slow. Jake Brendel (C) actually did ok but Sutherland his back up is TERRIBLE. Perhaps the worst player on the team. Right guard Spencer Burford has had a good camp and good two first games, but this one was not good. Scuttle but out of camp is UDFA LG Poe may take Banks job but we'll see.

I think getting Williams will settle the whole line down and anchor the LG position more. Where the heck is daniel Brunskill? He has been injured all camp and would have been a veteran presence.

Seahawks line has looked much better this year so far and as a result I think they will have success on offense. Defense could be another story though.

I think Lance did ok. His passes were off, but that is his struggle , accuracy. Everyone is crapping on him but he did not throw an INT. I think the throw to Deebo was fine, Deebo did not seperate and was interfered with in my opinion. Lance struggles with short pass accuracy placement which is very important for a YAC based offense setting up the receiver to continue running in stride. I think Lance did not have a comfortable pocket all night.

the 4th down play read option to Sermon would have been an ideal for Lance to take it and run but I think they did not want him running
