As I said in the game chat, I think we were all apprehensive about signing Shell and whether he was any better than ifedi but I think he’s done a great job. Pete just said he’s touch and go for next weekend..which clearly isn’t good against their DL. Would you rest him a week so he’s good against the Rams or have him play through what he’s going through(if he can manage it) and play against WFT?

If they don't play him against Washington they'd better game plan to help whoever is at RT vs that d-line or else it's going to be an ugly game for the offence. It's going to be tough anyway but no Shell makes it worse.

I think Shell has been the best offseason signing. Seriously underrated up until the injury forced him out.

He is critical to having success in the playoffs, so yes, I would sit him. We are basically locked into a wildcard slot, so there is not much to gain by rushing him out there in a non-division game.

Locked into a wildcard?

We are tied for the division lead and a game back from a first round bye.

I really have my doubts regarding the strength of his ankles lasting through the sixteen games....much less the Post Season.

Division is much in play, but a lot has to happen in order to get the 1st rd bye. Playoffs are a lock, and if a team doesn't get the #1 seed this year, it's all the same. No fans, no other 1st round bye. It's win or go home.

This team was jacked up this week, Adams and lots of other ex-Jets had an axe to grind. Next week "could" be a big let down. Need to find that bulletin board edge.

They are one game back of the 1st seed.

So actually, only one thing has to happen for them to achieve that goal 8)

I think NO would have the tiebreaker against them so technically their 2 games back of a 1 seed. If Seattle runs the table we'll still need to get lucky with GB losing a game just to get a 2 seed.

I’m still waiting for Pete to show me he can stop McVeys offence. Until then we are looking very much wildcard bound.

We just shellacked a terrible team. It’s not a sign we’ve turned a corner.

Shell had today's game circled on his schedule. It was his decision to play this game. We'll see how much he wants to go next week. Hoping he get's over it in a few days. Those things can go either way, but especially with guys as big as he is.

Our problem is lack of depth at the position. With Jones out we are bare behind Shell. Washington is playing good ball.

Nailed it with the bolded part. The one or two times we have beaten the Rams in the McVay era, it's been last second luck or a couple amazing plays saving us despite their offense torching us. Missed GW FG last year as an example. IIRC, I think the one other time was the game Earl hacked the ball out of Gurley's arm as he extended it for a score, getting a touchback.

The Gurley touchback happened in the 1st quarter of that game. The game was won when Cooper Kupp dropped a wide open TD in the end zone as the time expired with no defenders around him.

While i kind of agree the Seahawks always seem to play it safe when it comes to holding guys out, like almost to safe for me. Sure you could say it's the Jets he doesn't need to play but then how many players would sit using that logic?
