Just curious what this free agency would be like if we hadn’t won the Super Bowl and if winning it so quickly had any affect on the long term plan?
Like how many players are we losing cause we won it all that we probably didn’t plan on losing?

I may always be gripped by the 80's and 90's Seahawk ball, however I have never seen defence of the likes of our current head coach.

You could swap out the whole team and I would have confidence that the Seahawks would be back in the playoffs this year because of the coach.

2 years in and I am happy to say MM is the best Coach in franchise history!

Do you need medical assistance? Blink twice if you are suffering a stroke or head trauma.

What in the world would possess you to feel the way you do after such a historic season? Are you afraid of the dark? Of continued success? Still can’t release yourself from the grip of the 90s?

Seriously! What is it? We want to help. Reach out.
Says the one who can’t watch games live ;)

Anyway…looking forward to the upcoming season

Our boys literally sleepwalked to a Super Bowl. I still can't believe we won it all.

Did I miss a mental breakdown post again?..damn..I miss all the fun
Not really... doesn't matter which section its in.. if you literally say anything that isn't a HURRAAAH post.. you are a debbie downer. State some stats, throw some hypotheticals ... ask for some input or opinion ABOUT NEXT YEAR.. and it just comes into a derail. Oh well I guess.. back to lurking I think for me. (not that anyone cares haha.. but still)

I just want to point out that Chicken Little and Eeyore suffer from two distinctly different mental conditions. Eeyore is clearly depressed and would be better once on his meds. Chicken Little, on the other hand, suffers from anxiety disorder and her hysteria may be bipolar disorder or even paranoid schizophrenia.

I think you could have included other Winnie-the-Pooh characters like Piglet, who clearly has anxiety disorder and Tigger, who has ADHD, and Rabbit, who is OCD. All three of those characters show up on .net.

All the Nellies and Eeyores here of course are just living McDonald’s drive through lives, “ I want it now”. Of course those folks know how to manage the team better than the consensus NFL Executive of the Year this last season. “Oh Woe, the sky is falling; it’s going to rain and tomorrow it’s going to rain again.”
They have an ingrained belief in the worst happening.

We still need to believe the team knows what it’s doing, they have enough cap to keep the players they truly want to keep. There is a very solid and frankly strong core of a Championship Team here, with damn good coaches. The FO has proved themselves able to build a winning organization. Besides it’s early days for the next season. Free agency starts next week, be realistic and sheath that negativity until the season begins. Of course there are players who may leave to get paid, the team will add some back and bring in some new blood to compete that’s the way this works.

As fans we still should savouring that sweet taste of winning the Bowl. Our team will be competitive again this coming year.

Is really a thing? I haven't been around here much lately. Hard to believe.

We just won the SB, are in the best cap situation we've been in a long time, we have few holes and few FA's leaving.

It’s probably an artifact of the time of season.

With notable exceptions, those of us who tend more toward focusing on what the team needs to do to have future success, are the ones who tend to be around this time of year.

The fans who are more focused on the present, and just being fans, are off enjoying life and the win.

But the eeyoring and littling does seem to be especially bad this year, considering the year we just had. This admin has certainly earned our trust.
It's partly bcuz we saw it happen with some of these FA's were supposedly about to lose
Take heart in JS got us here
MM got us over the top
In '26 there will be new guys that play above their paygrade that aren't even on the team yet

I don't believe that Chicken Little is part of the Pooh Universe. ;)

Like how many players are we losing cause we won it all that we probably didn’t plan on losing?

There's only one that comes to mind.... Rashid Shaheed.

His punt return for TD in the TNF game against the Lambs to trigger a come-from-behind win, the opening k/o return for TD against the 40-Whiners in the Divisional round, and a couple of jet sweeps in the SB showcased his potential, dynamic influence on the outcome of any game.

One could argue that Walker's last several games drove up his price tag to the point that John currently believes he is being over-valued but that started before the SB... a minor distinction, I admit.

I don't believe that John's going-forward plans for Uchenna Nwosu, Boye Mafe, Coby Bryant, Josh Jobe and Josh Jones were principally affected by the team's playoffs run to the Lombardi.

Can someone explain how the cap works with free agents? If Woolen makes $4M/year and leaves, do we add that to our current cap room?

No, not at all.

My suggestion is you go to overthecap.com and read some articles to educate yourself on the basics of the salary cap. To try to do that here is a tall task.

Once at their site, enter "salary cap 101' into the Articles search window... and a couple will come up. Have fun!

With incentives I think RW made 5M last year.
The Seahawks currently are about 58M under the cap of 301M, 6th most in the NFL. Woolens' 5M number and the sum of the other Seahawk unrestricted FA's are included in that 58M cache, based on the top 51 contracts.
Balancing the cap and structuring contracts is tricky & complicated and we are lucky to have John at the helm.

I think that's it in a nutshell but someone else in here might have a better answer.
