My only gripe with it is simple. So offense can push their teammates forward, but its illegal for defense to do the same. How's that fair?

It's basically a rugby play that conforms to football rules. I am not understanding on what grounds anyone could justify banning it.
Next thing you know someone will propose than any pass play longer than 60 yards should be illegal. Or where you catch the ball is where the play ends. No YAC.

For sure, I thought it was funny that no team could replicate it to the same success.

It’s amazing that it is only the eagles doing it well and the bills doing ok and no one else. What is the defense for it? Jump offsides? The defense should be able to push just like the offense. Are the eagles really just that much bigger and badder?

My big issue with it is offensive players pushing another offensive player. I've never been OK with it, even when our offensive linemen were stacking into a beast mode pile to get marshawn some more yards.

Teams that try to come up with something to stop it, like trying to time the snap, get penalized to the point of threatening to give the Eagles a free touchdown. (Redskins/Eagles playoff game)

I've said it before - I am NOT condoning this, but I'm waiting for some defensive coordinator to convince a couple of his guys to ignore the play and go for the QBs head. The first time a QB is left on the ground after the rest of the pile moves away, this play stops.

For the "why ban a play just because someone does it well" crowd, I point you to Kam jumping over the line on field goal attempts, without touching any of the offensive players. The NFL put a stop to that REAL quick.

As has been pointed out, it's rather unfair right now, since defenders can't push their own guys toward the line. Allow defenders to do this too on tush push plays, and I'll support it. Otherwise, you can just line up half a dozen Fat Bastards (character from Austin Powers, I'm not swearing! ) on the offensive side and tush push your way down the field all game. This seems like a pretty simple thing to understand, IMO.

22 teams voted to end the tush push. 24 votes were needed for change. This doesn't mean that all of the other 10 teams supported it. Some may have been prepared to give it another year or would like to try tweaking the rules. Some stick with the status quo until a clearly better alternative is available.

Awkward landings . We should probably ban jump balls too then.

The nfl is ridiculous. Pretending there are no safety concerns with the tush push is complete BS.

How do (would) the Eagles stop it? Technique, etc.? I know any teams running it against them aren't running it as effectively as the Eagles are - but if they created this monster do they have an antidote within the defensive rules as they currently exist?
