Jobe did nothing yesterday to hurt his standing after the first two games. And Woolen didn't do much to elevate his. Comparing anyone to Sherman after only a few games would be a reach, but Jobe just might be the guy who could make that reach.

Every DB that has a handful of good games is the next [insert all-time great player], lol. Wasn't Reek THE guy and now he's borderline fodder...

Not to take anything away from what he's done with a handful of snaps, but one busted play and those numbers would get skewed. Props for two great games, but let's pump the brakes. Hopefully he keeps it up for the next 4 years.
Kendrick is Jason Bourne

The problem with Reek(yes, I spelled it that way on purpose)is not his physical ability but his mental ability for the game. I’ve pretty much thought he was mentally lacking from the first time I heard him conversing in an interview. He came across as kind of a dumbass. Something that Sherman NEVER did for me. Sherm was one football smart guy and I think that’s what really pushed him to the top.

Well, Couch, I'm not going to stop posting. That would be the only way to "pump the brakes," the thread's subject of which you misconstrued -- the meaning was actually "Could he eventually prove to be similar to?". So to "pump the brakes" on a benign statement like that makes me feel like, gosh, I guess I shouldn't post anything around here and maybe my keyboard should be confiscated.

In other words, no thanks, I'm not going to "chill" or "pump the brakes" to bring up a discussion like this, and I consider it unfortunate that it got jumped on the way it did.
Nobody *really* cares. Keep posting things that lead to good discussion even if a few other posters respond with zingers.
If you don't provoke an occasional zinger response around here, you're probably playing it much too safe.
It's just an Internet message board.

My reaction was along the lines of Jobe is off to a good start, but he doesn't have Sherman's length or mouth and is a different type of player.
Remember when Tharald "Toast" Simon was supposed to be the "next Richard Sherman"? Then he got cooked in SB XLIX just trying to be a shell of Jeremy Lane.

Sherman's narcissism also translated into tremendous effort in preparation and scouting, plus Sherman's WR background in college helped him understand and anticipate WR moves.

I'm enjoying Derion Kendrick's play nearly as much as Jobe's. I just hope we can keep a healthy and effective rotation of good DBs that can match up with opponents and play MikeMac's scheme effectively. I'll be happy with any who turn out to be the next... Jeremy Lane, or (healthier) Walter Thurmond, or...

EDIT: As others pointed out, Sherman was also super-smart and excellent at reading the game and anticipating opponent's moves. I think that was stated more in contrast to Woolen.

Don’t you hate it when negative Karens try to harsh your joy and sound so superior to you? So irritating.
