This was not a bad loss today. Lots of injuries, bad officiating, and we still competed with one of the best teams in the league.

People will try to paint this as some catastrophic result but the fact is this team is 3-1, still in the lead of the division with a winnable game next week to get to 4-1.

These Hawks are underrated and the future is very bright. Tonight actually just made me feel better about the team. Don't listen to the doom and gloom.

Agreed, The O was really impressive, the D was down 5-6 players and it was relatively close...still need some polish...but oddly I am not broken by this loss...just more encouraged for the future!

That is a fair take of the situation.

It's okay. We're going to get an "I'm sorry" from the league office later today. That will make everything all right.

I normally fume for a good few hours after a Seahawks loss, not this time. The issues/breakdowns with the Defense were legit, but missing five of our starting front seven was just too much to overcome with last minute practice squad additions and backups. I'm sure it will be a point of emphasis this week. The offense looked pretty good, and Geno did as much as humanly possible to win the game. All against one of the very few Elite teams in the NFC, in their place, and on Monday night. I really hope they can find a way to win the next two games, and give themselves a 9-day break after the 49er game to get as many bodies healthy as possible for what will be a telling stretch of the schedule.

Yeah, if you're going to have any games where the secondary gets shredded, injuries are outrageous, and refs make some sketchy calls, might as well have it all happen in the same regular season game.

We've got some things to work on besides getting Uchenna, Boye, Big Cat, Baker and Murph healthy.

Young Macdonald will figure things out.

We gotta get Kansas City Chief type good. Have one of our players steal Taylor Swift from Kelce. Have Geno start talking like a Muppet.

Maybe….just maybe….we’ll get the calls then.

Just curious. If a "a win is a win" regardless of the opponent, then why isn't a loss a loss regardless of injuries, calls, etc.?
I never said a loss wasn't a loss. This is still in the L column and we are 3-1 as I said. It's simply a fact that it's possible to feel better about some losses then others. Just as they could win a game and we could feel less confident because of the way they won.

My thread was not disputing that. The Seahawks lost yesterday. But wins and losses don't always tell the full story. Maybe your point would have come across better if I was hammering the idea that a "win is a win". But I don't see that being said anywhere.

Oh, I wasn't directing that question at you. I fully agree people should evaluate W's and L's with some context of what happened in those games (which is why DVOA is such a great stat). I probably should have posted that in its own thread (or bumped a thread a like the "Don't apologize for 3-0" one).

Exactly! Look at SF losing to a depleted Rams team, and then coming out firing the next week. Onwards and upwards for us! I'm just choked that DK could get me 8 more points for my fantasy team!

When I thought for a second how last year's Pete team would have fared,
I instantly felt better.

I'm disappointed in the loss. It would have been great to see that depleted D step up and get the job done and today's main conversation being how McDonald is brilliant for what he accomplished. But I'm not panicked that last night is a sign of things to come rest of the year.

The fact it was the defense struggling and not the offense makes me feel a bit better. Defence will get fixed, hopefully when guys come back. It might take all season or next but i'm certain it will. MM was really pissed off at the defence with the miscommunications and breakdowns. Wouldn't want to be a defensive player today.

Apparently the same thing happened for the Ravens against the Dolphins a few years ago and it was a line in the sand moment for them with McDonald.
