The defense is on the way to being great. I do still feel we need 1 more player who is elite in the front seven. Wether it's dline or lber. This draft i would not be mad if our first pick was a defensive player and not a olineman even though we desperately need one.

I really want OL at #18 but I'm starting to think it would be better for my health to not watch this draft.
MM runs his base 3-4 nickel zone/3 safety defense around 75% of the time.
He was able to be effective in this style of play in Baltimore because of All-Pro SS Kyle Hamilton. KH was drafted #14 overall in 2022, 6-4, 225 is basically a SS + Sam LB + FS + slot corner who made everything work in McDonald's scheme.

Now I don't know if Starks, Emmanwori or Winston Jr fit the bill but I am sure they are being looked at. There are also 11 CB's ranked in the top 100 with 7 of those over six foot in height.

It would take an exceptional talent to duplicate the All-Pro Hamilton and I really hope they don't reach while neglecting the OL.

Since we had a new coach and made mid-season defensive cuts/acquisitions and all, I think it would be more instructive to look at our second half of the season ranking vs the entire season. But I don't know if there's anywhere to find that info. I imagine there will be a stark difference between 1st and 2nd half season stats. And with a 17 game season I realize there isn't a strict 1st/2nd half so all you pedantic souls just settle down please.

I like what Rat said, but my mindset is a little different. I’d really like the team to address the back end and select either a safety or corner with one of their first three picks.

Woolen finished 65th among corners via PFF grades (I understand PFF is a volatile grading system on this board but here’s me showing research) with a 67.9 grade.

Love and Bryant are both pedestrian safeties imo. I truly believe the defense could make a huge leap with an eraser back there to force the QB to hold onto the ball for an extra tick. Or a safety like Kam who can make some serious splash plays and put the fear of God into the opponent.

Which is why I really hope the Seahawks draft at #18: Nick Emmanwori

Both Love and Bryant had really good seasons. I wouldn't call them pedestrian at all. Love in particular had a very strong season. I like Emmanwori, but I think people over hyping him. I have seen people compare him to Kam Chancellor and Kyle Hamilton. He doesn't really plays like neither. I think the closest player to him is Jeremy Chinn.

Through the draft, I would like to see another Edge, 3T, CB earlier in the draft. I would like to see a backup NT later in the draft.

Specifically a speedy Edge rusher like Josaiah Stewart would be awesome. He's small, but getting him in the 3rd and allowing to rotate through passing situations would be ideal. I would also target a potential 3T in Omarr Norman-Lott, Joshua Farmer, or Darius Alexander. All of these players bring power and quickness to a pass rusher. Lastly, another CB with starter potential would be great. Big fan of Trey Amos early and Jacob Parrish/Chandler Rivers later in the draft.

My feeling is that one of the top rated defensive players will be there at 18. A defensive player is more of a sure thing than a 330lb fat guy. So we take him. The draft shows will bash us for not taking a guard. I also wouldn't mind a 4 29 40 Golden receiver. I think we take some guards rounds 3 to 5 but are they gonna be as good as we already have? Impossible to predict. We also have a bag of cash. There is a plan there. 10 draft picks later...how many real men crack the roster? I'm not sure. We have alot of guys who can play football. This is a make or break draft. We need some guys...say 2 or 3 who can play right now. The Rams and 9ers are gonna be right on top of it.
