They didn’t play well for the second half of the 4th quarter for sure. They did play well overall except for Woolen whom was trash all day long. The dropped easy picks were a little annoying but that’s why they are DBs
Totally agree. And I would add, the Seahawks defense absolutely missed Dexter Lawrence in the second half. Hope that quad heals quickly.

1) The telecast I saw replayed that play 3 times as soon as the call was made. It was a legit call. The real problem was that it was totally unnecessary by JSN as by that moment neither player was still influencing the play. JSN had already achieved the goal with his block prior to pulling the guy down on top of him.
2) I dispute that Bryant fumble call. IMO he was down by contact before losing the ball.
3) The Cards are a team coming on strong, they just aren't quite there yet. They are pretty much where we were last year. But if you recall, we tied the Rams division winning record, losing by a level six tiebreaker.
4) But for our own mistakes this game would not have been within a 24 pt margin. We made the plays to create that margin but also made the mistakes that erased it. Sooo, we're not there yet either but we're gaining on it.
5) San Francisco is the only undefeated team in our division. Why is that? They are not a real good football team. They do have an excellent head coach and staff. I still rank them, even at full strength, fourth in our division.

I don't think down by contact even matters.

Bryant went into a slide and gave himself up.

If he was a QB this would be no doubt.

A WR would have also gotten that consideration pretty easy.

I don't recall that aspect really being a part of conversation here, but it was pretty clear - I did FF through some of the replay though

completely forgot about that.

In a game where points would be precious, that was a totally bonehead penalty by K9 there.

Imagine he doesn't commit that penalty, at the worst we kick a FG and if things continue the same way, this game would've had zero drama even with Meyers missing the kick later.

So many things went wrong and yet the Hawks persevered.
Totally agree. Yes the Cards player should have been flagged first on K9’s penalty. Absolutely. But they always get the guy who retaliates like it or not. He will learn. If they can clean all this stuff up quickly; man I like our chances this year.

I don't blame K9 for getting real upset about the guy dragging him by the leg after the play was over, but throwing the ball at him was dumb. As an armchair quarterback I don't get why football players (NCAA as well) make these emotional bonehead moves that cost their teams point or even games. But us normal humans also do such things, often with regret. Doesn't seem it can be coached out of the players. You also hear that it's just part of the 'fire' that makes them so good.

The mistakes when we were up 20-6 ended up being good long-run - it showed our weaknesses. But just like the bonehead emotional mistakes players make, almost all coaches go into a different defensive strategy when up like this at the end of a game, rather than sticking with what got them up by so much. All I can think is that McDonald (and other coaches) figure the other team has to change their offensive strategy (e.g-they have 4 plays instead of 3) so what got us to this point is unlikely to keep working. I thought Witherspoon did fine at the end - he missed stopping that touchdown catch by inches, and even then it required a great throw and a great catch. Woolen is another story - hopefully just a really off day for him.

I'm being won over by Darnold - I like that he gets out of trouble and looks around calmly and sometimes has to go to his third receiver. He also scrambles good. I wasn't expecting this much from him.

I also give credit to McDonald for calling a timeout with 28 seconds left. I thought it was very questionable, but it worked out perfectly.

Yes, the last 6 minutes of the game was a letdown by the defense.
I am not sure agree with this. I feel the Offense let us down too, by not keeping the ball and getting first downs. I felt like in the 4th quarter Kubiak started play not to lose instead of to win with his play calls. Huge letdown to me.

The better team obviously won we put Murray on his candy ass six times. We packed his fudge. We also bottled up Marvin for 3 and a half quarters

Woolen is a bad fit in this defense, he doesn't read quick enough, find the ball and track the receiver, most good CB's will have a hand or something in contact when they take a peek or turn their head, he does'nt find the ball, Also quick route runners eat him up especially on the out and up routes. he bites and then has to catch up which I don't see him close well. Pete had him play off, the ten yard soft zone, he doesn't get ten yards here to watch and wait.

The f*cking ball carrier goes down, and you know the refs are watching the ball carrier. There is NO WAY they didn't see the guy pulling his leg. P*eces of sh*t! And then you penalize a guy for softly throwing a ball not even hitting a guy. Pathetic.

I know he needs to be permanently replaced by Jobe or Pritchett or Kendricks. Woolen has no business playing corner if he can’t tackle or turn his damn head around and play the ball. He’s a pussy.

Might as well put him at Nickel or something.

FTR, the Hawks' D has been without Dexter Lawrence the entire season. ;)
Don't confuse us with facts.

Woolen has skills and I hope last week was a wake-up and he turns things around. Replacing him isn't going to be as easy as the arm-chair quarterbacks think.

Rather have Jobe and Kendricks on the field in Nickel in conjunction with Witherspoon playing opposite on an island

Hawks lead the league with 33 running plays getting blown up in the backfield. That has to change. Darnold and 28 seconds to win rather than tie for overtime. A great win.
