This is gonna be my kinda "end of season" rambling.
I am absolutely crushed. The comeback and near win made it that much harder I think, the unbelievable high for it to instantly come crashing down. With that said, this season actually turned out pretty amazing. Everyone will talk the next week about all the good that happened this year but there is something that I don't think has been mentioned yet and I'm not exactly how I feel about it.
We have now set the bar for next season and it is the super bowl. I think anything less will be a massive disappointment. This team set them selves up for it, just making the playoffs isn't going to be enough. It feels pretty awesome to finally be one of those teams that before the season even starts, we are a super bowl contender. But with that comes the disappointment if we don't get there. The NFC is tough. Our own division is going to be insanely tough. You never know what injuries will happen.
It's really early but it almost feels like the regular season doesn't even matter to us next year (kinda like Atlanta this year, they only cared about getting that playoff win, it's like their playoff spot was automatic). All that matters now is the playoffs.
I get this post kinda sounds doom and gloomy but I'm fairly confident in what our FO can do. If Schneider is as good as some of us think (he is, btw) than this team is going to just be even better. Our 2nd youngest team in the league just got a ton of experience and confidence. At no point next year will I feel like we will lose until the clock hits zero. These players now know they can hang with anyone and they can mount historical comebacks.
I mentioned disappointment quite a bit in this thread and as hawk fans we have experienced disappointment our entire fan existence. I think it finally ends next year. We are gonna do it. I got nothing to really base it on and maybe it's just my way of getting over today but I really believe it. We got all the monkeys off our backs, expect one now.
