That's what happens when you don't run the ball

Can't be one dimensional...

4 turnovers... huge amounts of pressure = LOSS

Russ is great but in the NFL teams have to be balanced.

Lol get outta here. All the Bills did was pass. How did that one dimensional work out for them?

Yeah this wasn't a "didn't run enough" issue this was a "the defense pissed itself whilst trying to give a presentation in front of the class" kind of issue.

Well, if the Seahawks offense got to play the Seahawks defense every week it would work out pretty well. But they have to play legit NFL defenses so it's quite a bit harder.

Hard to run the ball when you're trailing 14-0 in the first few minutes of the game, and then trailing by at least 2-3 score the rest of the game. Nevermind having all rookies / young backups in the backfield.

You def don't need to run when you have an insanely good passing game, like the Hawks do right now. you're going to throw Carson and Hyde out there to 'make them honor the run' when you could save them to heal up fine for the final push of the season? With a decent running game, HAWKS offense can be unstoppable.

But playing your ailing running backs to compensate for one of the worst defenses in NFL history will stop the problem. then you just end up with a depleted/average offense as well to compensate for...well, we now what for.

I disagree when you run the ball effectively it counters the blitz.. that and some screens... opens up the passing game through play action... granted Hyde and Carson were out but still.... the Cards opened up the blueprint dont think the Rams were weren't watching... Every team in the league knows what the Hawks are going to do "let Russ cook" now they have figured out how to beat him... Run the ball more or figure out how to beat the blitz cause the Hawks are going to see this same tactic every week until they prove they can beat it...

Actually, running the ball killed an important drive.

Those 2 runs to Homer effectively ended our comeback.

If anything, running the ball was the problem.

Are you talking about pre-game tactics, or what am I missing? Dude, they were up 14 points a few minutes in, and was up 2-3 scores the whole game. Scoring on their first 4 drives, and scoring at will. Do we run Homer and Collins at that point while trying to make up for huge deficits? Dallas was out for while as well, after a big hit.

Okay reality

Buffalo punted 1 time. ! time. Having a running game was not going to change that. FYI RB screens work well, yet we did only 1 at the end of the game.

...wait, didn't the Bills just have a game where the;y rushed for less yards then the Hawks?

Maybe it's a matter of the offensive line, or something else.

They work, but our screens tend to be flow screens where Russell goes right and throws back left many times and it's a floater. We have seen that attempted the right side and it has been picked more then once, our screens just are not designed well.

Running game takes the rush away with play action, consumes time, keeps Wilson more upright.

Homer just is not a power runner, he is a slash guy.

Next week I hope Collins has more of the offense down, he is a power runner and will help, hopefully Carson will be ready also and or Hyde.

Collins picked up a Blitz today nicely and basically stuffed the rusher.

On one of the screens, RW got sacked because the TE (I think it was Hollister, maybe Dissly) didn't even bother to try and act like he was blocking. He just ran past the defenders, looking back at Wilson for the pass

Yeah saw the RB do that once too and it resulted in a sack fumble.

OP, I agree. Let's not forget the Bills WANTED us to pass. That plays into their strength. They are weaker against the run and why didn't we run the ball - because the Oline can't create "push". Like it or not we were one dimensional and for that reason alone moving forward it will be nearly impossible to win a championship. We need Carson and one other back (Hyde or Penny) to get healthy in the next few weeks.

Problem is the olien cant pass protect either, adn for whatever reason we dont give check downs, screens, or blitz beating routes.

Definitely need a balanced attack to keep defenses honest, keep Wilson upright, and control time of possession.

Wilson is trying to do too much right now. Get back to basic "Pete Ball" and protect the football. Four turnovers will kill you every single time. Doesn't matter how potent the offense is. The two losses are the result of turnovers and giving opposing offenses a short field to easily score on our horrid defense.

Look for a long day next week if we don't get a running game or short passing game going.

Seattle has never been a team that ran many screens, probably because we don't want to take too many chances with our QB. When I played, we all loved screens but our coach would hardly ever call them. It leaves your QB hanging out to dry, and if the blockers didn't disguise their blocks well, it's a double whammy with a potential loss, and your QB buried. Anyone who didn't disguise their block well, would just get grilled by our coaches.
