Remember...we are just fans. What they earn is not in our control. Is their pay commensurate with their play on the field? We as fans can put in our two cents worth.....that is what this message board is for. The general feeling around here is that he is getting "under paid" right now. Probably the biggest haters are in the 9rs fandom, but, there's no explaining the jealousy of fans around the League, eh?

Just saying the way you see Steve Smith is how others see Tate.

Panthers fans love Smith. They feel the same way about him that you do about Tate. Because he's on their team. You are quick to bash Smith's character but excuse Tate's. Because he's on your team.

You can look through ANY archives and you won't see me bashing Smith for his antics, or his great playing abilities, so where the hell are you getting this "Bashing" him from?
The only comment you'll EVER find that I've made about Steve Smith, is where I thought it was a > ONE < stupid move on his part to have thrown Sherman to the ground in his frustration, and that he was lucky that he wasn't trying to do that to Browner, BUT, I would say that about ANY player, SEAHAWKS included.
Now, I don't like dirty players on ANY team, but I don't give a flying monkeys ass about what other fans think about my Seahawks, so, let me ask, do you?

Someone beat me to the Steve Smith stuff. It's just crazy how somebody could compare the two when it comes to character and antics.

Deion Sanders was always showboating back in the day.

It's crazy what kind of softie league the NFL has become.

Defensive players get to smash the QB for a sack or the RB for a loss and do a little patented dance, they talk smack all the time. What's the difference between Golden Tate waving bye-bye to folks during the play and JJ Watt standing there doing the Mutumbo finger shake and then doing it all the way to the sideline and mugging for the camera.

Oh, I forgot, it's not taunting if you do it for the camera and not directly at the person. I just find it a little bit dumb that they have to cut the line on rules like that. Let the players have a personality. Let the player be liked or loved for the way they conduct themselves. If they go and hit an opposing player after a play then throw a flag. I'm not a huge fan of giving players a penalty when they get caught up in the moment or even when they have a special dance choreographed for a big moment.

I Love me some Tater Salad.

He is a great player, a BEAST of a runner...but he is NOT a complete WR. Looking at him run his routes and catch the ball, he doesn't have that WR feel to him. The routes don't look super crisp, he doesn't seem to have the best hands, and he catches with his pads a lot. These are some negatives to him, there are a lot of positives as well.

On the running with the ball aspect, he is incredible, more like an RB than a WR.

Tate's an extremely unique player. I'm not sure he has any comparables in the league, not even Harvin/Austin

I'd say the closest comparison is Hines Ward. So no, not in the league anymore, but same style of toughness and athleticism.

No way. Hines in his prime was a great WRs, and not comparable to Tate at all. Hines had great hands, he was also much larger and more physical. Totally different players in my book.

As I stated previously, while their games and statures share similarities, there is no comparison between the personas of Tate and Smith. Even as a football player, Tate is more starting to resemble one of the great Golden Domers of all time, Tim Brown. Do notice I said "starting to resemble". Both great after the catch and deadly on punt returns. Let's pray Tate grows up to be Tim brown. That possibility is definitely worth keeping him around, IMO.

That's it, I can't read this thread any longer...the homerism is simply too out of control. Even if you qualified your statement by "starting to resemble" it's still out of line to compare Tate to Tim Brown. Tim Brown was a great, even if the HOF snubbed him. You would be laughed off the stage if you compared the two on any other NFL team board. The guy has 15k yard receiving and 100Tds in his career.

Is that YOUR take on Tate?, I mean, the way other fans on other teams might see him?, because they hated him for making that catch, and when it didn't go their way on the call, they were incensed ,and you can't reason with idiots like that.
Do you have it in some book that you think holds players to certain parameters ,and once they step out of them, they become "dickwads"?
FIRST, that so called "push off" in the end zone that you seem to be all pissed about, is seldom if ever called in a 'hail mary', the announcers even said as much right after it happened on that play.
SECOND, anybody that gets their panties in a bunch about that wave, is being PETTY, and that includes all the do-gooders who don't like Tate in the first place.
The 15 yard penalty was excessive enough, but the $7,875 fine was way overcooked, but then again, it was done by Goodell so that makes it alright, and everyone who doesn't like Tate to begin with feels a certain justification, and confirmation that they have all their ducks in a row.

Tate did a much better job this time with his post game presser but of course the National media will rarely if ever show that.

No, just fed up with the folks giving credence to what OTHER fans think about a player who isn't even on their team.
If you don't find their logic kind of stupid on the matter, then why prop up their position, by saying that fans around the League just hate him, and then proceed to give them the benefit of the doubt, when THEY are the ones that are blowing shit out of proportion, or are just flat out wrong.

What the hell is wrong with people getting all up in arms about comparisons? No one is saying Tate is going to be a borderline HOF'er or as impactful or productive as this player or that player. They're similar in the way they play whether it be physicality, good hands and leaping ability or what have you
