the few of us here that didn’t like the halftime show were not alone.

I saw one poll that said 66% of those polled DID NOT like it.

20 something % didn’t care either way, the balance “liked it”.

That’s a “fail” imo

I knew I didn’t want to listen to the show. I kept the tv on but muted the volume I ended up watching YouTube videos while I waited for the 2nd half to start

I knew going in there were 2 very specific, often overlapping, groups of people that were NEVER going to like it, and, simultaneously, care more about it than reasonable.

I say go back to having a marching band only at halftime.

I'm also glad this puts to bed the stupid conspiracy theory about the refs, Taylor Swift, etc. etc.
Stupidity would be better defined by being those who think it's completely impossible when there have been plenty of PROVEN very high-profile "caught steering outcomes" scandals in professional sports. But no, surely, it's not possible. Not to mention, one would have to be completely ignorant of the concept of cognitive bias.

Not sure what your point is.
What would be a “reasonable amount” of care.

Is voicing an opinion too much “care”?

If viewership is the goal, especially in terms of the corporations that invest millions in ad time, my thinking says having a halftime show that captures a wider audience is the smart move.
A less than 20% “like”/ approval rating suggests the advertisers didn’t get as much value as they could have.

Maybe you’re more interested in turning the conversation into something it isn’t/hasn’t been?

It’s certainly possible to not like, and not care at the same time. Isn’t that “reasonable”?

Apparently you haven't seen the literal CRYING about the show. I don't even use Xitter and that other Fuddy site and I have seen it. Then, again, I love Kendrick, though.

Last I heard, that was the most watched thing in the country since the moon landing. It's definitely the most discussed/dissected (as planned from GO. Nicely done, PULITZER PRIZE Kenny!). I think they got their money's worth.

Of course. I've not seen much of that, though.

Well certainly you understand that having the television “on” and tuned to a particular channel doesn’t equal people “watching”?

I don’t care what source you use, at least 60% didn’t “like”.

I suppose in this day and age, and probably as it relates here, any publicity is good publicity.
I’ll suggest that most (because of the disapproval rating) of the publicity is from after the fact.
I certainly don’t believe that the advertising was as effective as it could be had the show been “liked” by a wider audience.

YMMV, and that’s absolutely 👍🏽

I watched the garbage halftime for about 20 seconds then turned the channel to a movie. I thought the movie was corny so I recorded it yesterday to watch it later. I can always delete the movie from the dvr. Movie name not to derail the thread was "Pixels". Still the halftime show was mentioned by a lot that I know and they agreed that it was crap. Not to be confused with Carp which is even worse.

"Too loud... too.. reckless... toooo.... GHETTO!"

Yeah, this was never for the "wider audience".

This is what AI has to say about why people didn't like it.

"Some people disliked Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show because of its perceived political messaging, particularly regarding racial inequality, which some viewers found too overt or uncomfortable for a mainstream event like the Super Bowl, with conservative critics especially voicing their disapproval; others simply didn't enjoy the style of rap music presented, finding it not suitable for the broad audience watching.

Key points about the criticism:
  • Political undertones:
The performance incorporated imagery and symbolism that many interpreted as commentary on social issues like police brutality and systemic racism, which alienated some viewers who preferred a more apolitical show.

  • Genre preference:
Some viewers were not familiar with Kendrick Lamar's style of rap music and found it too aggressive or not entertaining enough for the Super Bowl stage.

  • Conservative backlash:
Conservative media outlets and commentators heavily criticized the performance, accusing Lamar of pushing a "woke" agenda."
