This is a great stat, thank you for the post. I heard them talking about it on Sportscenter and was quite surprised. It just goes to show you that final score or who the opponent is doesn't matter. The W matters. We beat the Jets 40-3 and the Rams lost to them. Anything can happen any week and people get too high strung about margin of victory.

hell, the Seahawks beat the Dolphins by more.

So wondering what makes the difference here?

Wins are wins in the NFL. Making excuses for them is diminishing how hard they are to come by.

Well, listening to 710 this morning, same NWBS crap. It's shocking how incredibly spoiled Hawks fans are.
I will never in my life understand why people fight so hard to just enjoy a WIN??? Is that really what it has come to in Seattle? It literally isn't a good win unless they win convincingly? Unreal

Over 60% of NFL games are decided by one score or less, so no we shouldn't be expecting blowouts, especially against good defenses like Washington.

But does that mean we can't be critical of certain coaching decisions, schemes or playcalls? Of course not.

I love Pete, but he's one of the worst in game decision makers I've ever seen. Super aggressive at taking terrible time outs and challenging spots that have a 90% chance of not being overturned..............but super conservative when he's got 4th and 1 from the 50 marching down the field to put the game out of reach.

That's the kind of stuff that drives me crazy about Pete, not winning by 5.

Context. I feel fortunate for the win yesterday, but not confident after it happened. Seriously, they about crapped a win away against a team with players nobody has ever heard of. Its the same thing that happens with the Hawks all the time, but doesnt fly during the playoffs against legit teams. I dont know how anybody can be thrilled after a game in which Washington had no business being in. The fans thinking everything in Seahawks land is just fine and dandy after beating the Jets and Washington are in for a rude awakening.

Why not be thrilled? They won another game they had in hand, and it shouldn't have come down to the end. Yet another game they were clearly the better team, and made it look a lot closer than it was. Instead, the NWBS crew just want to look at how it ended and that's always their take. Completely ignoring everything that lead up to it. They ALMOST lost. But they DIDN'T lose.
This isn't some big surprise, this is what they do, and yes it's absolutely annoying.
I'm just not going to get all bent out of shape about how a team WINS. It's 2020, we have football and a damn good team. To each his/her own.
Nobody is in for a rude awakening. They either win on Sunday or they don't. Doom and gloom away, just not MY personal preference. And that's fine. We can agree to disagree, but the fact that people spend more time waiting for them to lose than enjoying winning? So ridiculous imo.

That's a great way to frame it and that is where the big disconnect between fans is on this topic. I personally can't understand why someone would waste any energy WAITING for their team to lose. Anything can happen on this NFL season long journey at any moment. Looking invincible most weeks might make some FEEL better, but it doesn't really change the odds all that much when it comes to playoff success. I would argue that comes down more to who you get matched up against, when, and what their roster looks like that day than anything else. In any given NFL season if there is a clearly dominant team, there almost always just 1. There usually isn't even 1 in each division. Not being that 1 team every year is no reason to complain. That "team" is the team that happens to be in the perfect window with total talent, QB, and Cap room. It will end for that team sooner than later. The PATS are an outlier and can't be factored in, in any way shape or form.

Do you think the chief fans feel good about winning that close to the saints? That game should never have been close, the Saints played like crap.
