I agree with many of the posts on here. Sam was behind on 2 throws, forcing the receiver to slow down, and giving Gonzalez the window to get his hand on the ball.

And, Spoon is a force multiplier. He makes players around him better with his energy, his knowledge of the game, and his ability to predict what's coming up, and that influences the same in the players around him.

He's worth more than the value of a DB because of that. Demarcus Lawrence plays like a madman, and players around him don't dare slack off.

This contract will happen like most others, it will drag out, John is really good and negotiating, and right before the preseason games, it will get done.

Edit: IMHO, Spoon is the best DB in the league, stats be damned. And Matt Stafford is the MVP, but i believe his body is going to say "Enough!" this year.

I liked get rid of the ball quickly Sam. The Pats D line made him rush some throws. 16-point win could have easily been a 30+ point win. Shoot, that missed one to JSN in the first had. He could have crawled into the end zone. But Sam had to rush it. Or at least he had that timer in his head.

I say Sam was behind on ONE throw and that was the throw to JSN in the endzone that was behind him that enabled Gonzo to get two hands on the football to knock it away.

The other throw to Rashid that he knocked away (that I think you're referring to) was a great play by Gonzo. He doesn't reach for that ball, Shaheed is off to the races and his first receiving TD as a Seahawk.

But he made one play. The other plays were bad throws. And if Darnold hit them better he would have given up over 100 yards and two TD’s. So he would be labeled as a bust.
Nobody has been glazed harder than Gonzalez for that one play. it is pretty crazy to me

Absolutely, and Gonzalez lines up outside and that is all he does. Spoon was the #1 PFF corner in the league because no matter where he goes, blitzing, nickle, outside, run defense, etc. he EXCELS at. Very few players in the history of the league does what Spoon does.

I'm thinking that it's just the first offer so they were apart, but something will get done. I feel like Spoon doesn't ge the love for his play like you think he would here. I don't know, even after everything is there still some sentiment that pick should have been Jalen Carter that leads to it?

I'm pretty sure the ball to Rashid was under thrown, but I'll have to look.

If Gonzo had to friggin' make a superman dive with an outstretched hand to knock the ball away, then it was a great play by him moreso than assuming that Sam's throw was short.

Let's not forget that opposing CB's can play good Defense, too.

Gonzalez is a very good player, no doubt about that. However, he was nowhere close to being the Superbowl MVP. First of all his team was on the wrong end of the score, second of all no way he would have received it over K9, Darnold, and Spoon.

Regarding Spoon's next contract - he's a must sign. Not only is he a tremendous, versatile, player as a DB, he makes others around him better. That's something that only a few players possess.
