At this point, it would be better to keep him until after the draft. Make team wonder if we really need a QB early, which may allow one to slide a bit.

You need a back up that can win games, Sammy can pull that off...keep him!

I don't care what anyone says, I like Howell. They should have ran with Howell this year and throw money at the fricking O-line. Darnold, whatever. They COMPLETELY overpaid for dude.. No way in hell I give that QB that kind of money after ONE descent year.

Schneider has historically preferred the development backup to the established, low-ceiling vet like a Dalton or Tyrod Taylor who can be trusted to jump in and competently manage the game. We've been shockingly fortunate in that time to have had consistently durable starters, so it hasn't really burned us.

Howell has a full year under his belt now, he has been a starter... I'd just stick with him for now.

Seems very unlikely, and it also seems less likely they draft a qb this year. If SD regresses however, then all bets are off next year, and I could see Howell and/or SD being let go while they draft a qb. This is a pivotal year for the franchise in that regard.

I see what you did there... VERY sneaky. Perhaps unintentional... but who knows. Made me laugh, regardless.

Nah. Darnold was a bargain compared to what many thought he would get paid. He had a better year than the last guy, he knows Kubiaks system and he can sling it. Slowly, but surely, Darnold will become the next whipping boy, for no good reason.

Congrats.

Howell is clipboard holder of the future. He's currently training under the lord and savior of every backup QB, Charlie Whitehurst. Tarvaris Jackson is teaching Howell from the heavens the art of the coin toss.

Howell is destined for....

Oh yes, waterboy.

Just not as dreamy as Clipboard Jesus
Hear me out... If you squint your eyes and drink at least two shots over what our boy toffee has, and then picture him with a short hair cut, and perhaps in a frat house environment it makes sense.
