I owe JS an apology. I questioned his effectiveness last week, but if he gets a couple of IOL guys next week, I will admit I was completely wrong.

I’ve always been a fan and defender of JS but until I see us playing football with an effective OL I’m not doing to continue to defend him. He’s got one job in my eyes right now and that is to fix the line. The jury is still out on that

This is my litmus test. I'll support JS 💯 if the Seahawks have a top-12 OL at the end of the season. If not, he needs to move on.

It is the most pressing long-term issue.

We got a new OL coach. They are more important than most realize. The OC and OL coach basically spoon at night during training camp. To get a feel for each other.

Yes we replaced coaches this offseason and that’s a great start but players got to do to job when they are called on to do so. I don’t think our IOL had enough talent. I don’t think coaches will magically change this. I do think we have the draft capital and cap space to fix it though and it’s time for JS to show what he’s got.

JS has done an outstanding job finding QB's. First Russ, then Geno off the street, now Darnold in free agency. Some teams go decades never finding a decent QB. This offseason he is remaking the team on the fly and imo doing a pretty good job of it given the circumstances.
The constant whining about the line is getting old. Yes it was bad last year BUT WE STILL WON 10 FREAKING GAMES!!! Hopefully our new coaches can help our O-line develop and maybe a different play caller and scheme helps too.
I find the constant bagging on JS pretty short sighted myself. Every team in the NFL struggles except the Eagles (who have a great O-line coach).

I wouldn't say outstanding. He also found Whitehurst and Flynn. I give John a lot of credit for building one of the greatest teams of all time. But since those couple great drafts he's had an awful lot of swings and misses. Especially in free agency . I do however see this being an incredibly quick build here if we can finish it off with a great draft. I guess if he turns it around here, maybe GM Pete needs more of the blame than GM John

Finding Russ alone is outstanding and in the third no less. Geno off the streets was outstanding. Many many GM's never hit on one QB he has hit on at least 2 and I believe that Darnold will succeed as well. Whitehurst and Flynn mean absolutely nothing. Bringing them up is silly as they both cost next to nothing anyway.

I definitely agree finding Russ alone is gold. Flynn and Whitehurst aren't foolish to bring up as they were both scheduled to be the guy. I do appreciate the ability to recognize failure and move on, however. That's just as hard

You make some fair points, but you don't really think the constant OL whining is about 1 year of bad OL play do you? I very much doubt you'd be seeing the level of frustration (aka whining) that you're seeing if very poor OL play was a 1 year outlier. The problem is, and where the frustration stems from, is that an overall very bad OL has become the norm in Seattle. That's just how we roll at this point.

And to be clear, I am one of the many here that is open to the possibility that a new scheme and different coaching may help.

Year in year out we have a sub par offense line. I keep my mouth shut about it until last year when John said interior offensive lineman are over rated. To me, this statement is exactly why year after year after year our offensive line sucks.

If he doesn’t fix the offensive line this season, we are going to be below average on offense again. No run game no pass protection no nothing.

Cannot be good at what you are doing if you keep making the same mistake over and over

I’m for an OL FA but won’t melt if it doesn’t happen. With that said, it would be nice, mainly because in the draft we could totally go BPA and **** shit up very radly

Schneider did an amazing job one time. We lucked into Geno being good.

Those Russ teams success had a lot to do with Russ himself. His best years were not the super bowl years.

Geno gave the gift of competency at QB with a team with multiple weak position groups.

Now he’s replaced Geno Lockett and DK with Sam Darnold, Cooper Kupp and MVS and people are singing his praises.

We had a better offense a week ago than we do now.

JS did an amazing job one time yet has maintained a winning team every year he has been a gm. That's incredible!!!

My fear is that Darnold is pummeled behind this line and receives Carr syndrome.

That is a fair point going from Geno and DK to Darnold, Kupp and MVS isn't the upgrade people think. I think it comes close to even but the underlying problem is the OL.
