So what is wrong with the Rams?

I'll leave the in-depth analysis to the Kearlys of the world, but I will pipe in and say there was an awful lot of chatter, even in the national media, that went along with the idea that hiring Fisher as a coach somehow instantly made the team dangerous. That chatter happened even before they won some games last year.

Can't deny they outperformed some expectations last year, but where I think it got out of hand was drawing a straight line from their improvement in win totals to this year. Yes Fisher had success with the Titans, but it's very difficult in the NFL to be able to succeed for 2 different teams as a coach. Parcells couldn't turn Dallas into a Superbowl threat and he's the father of a coaching tree.

I think Fisher is a good coach, but no way did I think he'd walk into a completely different situation like St. Louis and turn it around like Harbaugh did in San Fran.

But that brings up an interesting point...Harbaugh had the midas touch with Alex Smith, I wonder if it were Harbaugh in STL if he could do anything with Bradford.

Jeff Fisher gets my vote. We are now seeing why the Titans canned him. I have concluded Fish is one of, if not the most, over-rated coaches in the league. Under his watch, this very promising Rams team didn't just take a step back, they fell flat on their backs. With the picks and FAs they brought in, there are absolutely no excuses for this wholesale regression. Bradford is the QB and he will take most of the heat for this meltdown, but that is as ridiculous as giving RW all the credit for the success of our Hawks.

Bradford is not great, but serviceable. You can't put the running game woes (entirely) on him and you can't expect him to stop the run, either. That was the story last night; couldn't run, couldn't stop the run. Further, I doubt they let Bradford select the apparently worthless Austin, either and he didn't field that miserable secondary, either.

No. This is on Fish. He had tons of bulletin board stuff to prep his team. They were barely mentioned amidst all the Hawk / Niner talk..but this is the best he could get out of them? What a joke. Some of the worst coaching I've ever seen and Fish should be arrested for impersonating an NFL coach, IMO.

Fisher was so impressed with the QB play and overall awesomeness of the Jets offense, that he stole Schott away from them. It was also Fisher that kept Bradford.

I respect your opinion, Roland, but Brady couldn't win with this Rams team. Peyton might...because he would basically replace Schott, Fish and Sam.

I said they're the biggest problems, not the only problems. The Rams are far from a talentless squad as far as the players they have.

My point is that if you believe Bradford and Schott are even partially to blame, you have to put that on Fisher. To do otherwise would be like saying ..I never blamed Sark for our defensive problems, I blamed Holt.

That's kind of circular logic, though. I mean, it's TRUE, but even the best coaches in the history of the NFL could have done some things better. There's no such thing as perfect coaching; not unless someone coaches for 20 years and wins the Super Bowl every single one of those 20 years. Then we'll talk.

Of course Fisher is at least a little bit to blame.

I respect your opinion on the subject. I just don't know how a team, that gained more than they lost (by far) could digress so rapidly under a good NFL coach. I've always liked Fisher, but I now find myself, asking myself, why?

As you stated earlier (unless it was another correct poster) the Rams have a lot of talent. So, I'll reference the old baseball adage, "You can't fire the team so you fire the manager".

Someone better do something fast, because if that is what Rams football is going to look like, I vote their next move should be to Canada or Europe.

They also ran into a 49er team that has been embarrassed the last few weeks, don't just beta on the Rams, give the 49ers credit  for coming out with a mentality of were done being shown up, that and against a rival.

Chris, I'd give the 49ers credit if they had done that after getting embarrassed; but they didn't. They did it after getting embarrassed TWICE IN A ROW, and against a team that is performing very poorly thus far this year.

They'll get my credit when they earn my credit.

"SEAHAWKS SUCK SEAHAWKS SUCK SEAHAWKS SUCK".

That little anthem is what I hit my 9er friends with first thing this morning. To my astonishment, they were completely embarrassed. First a bit cocky (they didn't know of last night's chant), but when I reported those antics of "Niner nation"...they were like "oh, no shit"? LMAO.

That would be a T-shirt that would sell. I'd buy 2.

Agree with this.

I'd like to see Bradford benched next game. Team cannot play worse, let's see what happens.

Also want Shotty fired now. This weekend.

If they extend his contract I may have to take a break from the Rams.

I'm already being instructed not to read Rams news this week so I calm down.

Sam Bradford was the #1 pick in 2010 (in his 4th year now). Came out in the same class as Tim Tebow, Jimmy Clausen, ... etc. Those guys are already out of the league.

Rams welcome Sam Bradford contract extension talks

St. Louis Rams fans continue to wait for Sam Bradford to play like a No. 1 overall pick. He hasn't played poorly through four seasons, but he often leaves observers wanting more.

It begs the question: When might the Rams' front office think about alternatives?

Thankfully, we have NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport and NFL Media Columnist Mike Silver to ask these types of questions. Rapoport and Silver spent time with Rams coach Jeff Fisher, general manager Les Snead and Rams president Kevin Demoff in St. Louis this week.

"We have decided that Sam Bradford is our guy. If they came to us and wanted to do a contract extension right now, we'd do it in a minute," Demoff told Silver.

Bradford's deal doesn't run out until 2015. He's due $27 million over the next two seasons, which is a lot of money for a mid-level starter.

Rapoport and Silver reported on NFL Network's "NFL Total Access Kickoff" that Bradford is in no rush to work on an extension. Bradford knows how highly the Rams think of him, but he'd like to wait until he has the stats to back up the kind of contract he wants. (We'd argue that Bradford doesn't have the stats to back up the contract he has now.)

If the stats don't come this season (and they didn't in Thursday night's 35-11 loss to the 49ers, as Bradford completed just 19 of 41 passes for 202 yards), Rapoport reports that Bradford will play another season and reassess after 2014.

Bradford is not going anywhere, and there is no pressure to do a new contract soon. He's owed a lot of money in the next two years, and the Rams clearly are on board with paying it.

At some point, Bradford is going to have to play like a top-shelf starter in order to get paid like one. Bradford has time on his side.

Here is the story about Bradford contract extension.

1. They're in St. Louis
2. They're still the Rams
3. Steve McNair and Eddie George made Fisher, over rated.
4. Bradford is trash

Seriously, not looking to pile on. Real football talk here.

All that talent looks terrible, but I know some of those players are pretty good. The Colts took it to the Niners with press, but the Rams secondary looked out of place trying to man up. I love 6 of the front 7 on the Rams as players, but so far this year they are really inconsistent. Can two bad safeties ruin a good defense?

Is it Jackson being gone, could it be that simple? We knew they would miss his running, but do they miss his leadership? Bradford is not a guy you follow, his body language sucks, one mistake and the shoulders are slumped. I think maybe Fisher thought Jackson was holding Bradford back, and Bradford just needed his chance.

Or is it as as simple as most think Fisher is really good, so there is a tendency to over value his talent? Austin looks lost, Cook is a big receiver with no wiggle, all of the WR talent is young, and Bradford is a between the Thirties QB when I see the last three weeks.

Somehow I still feel like they have as much talent as most playoff teams, but when it's all cooked up it is dog shit. Why?
The ruination of Bradford is complete. This was a talented QB that came in and breathed life into the Rams his first season. But since then absolutely NOTHING has been done to shore up that horrible oline and he's been consistently shell shocked year in, year out. Now you take away the only offensive weapon he had and saddle him with rookie WR's who we all know take about three years to develop and leave him with the same pile of crap oline and it's amazing their offense has done what little it's done.

But this team looked to be a threat this season because they looked to have the number one defense, even ahead of Seattles. That hasn't turned out to be the case. I honestly don't have an answer for that one, I'm as shocked as everyone else. I fully expected the Rams to knock off SF last week. But this defense has collapsed.
